This is all probably just a distraction by the Trump administration, to take people's attention off recent blunders.
At best it is yet another example of Trump's lack of thoughtfulness. Even if he is right, blabbing via tweet is just so tacky.

But what I find most hilarious is how guys like James Clapper go on television news programs to discount Trump's claims. Clapper has the credentials to speak on this issue. Director of National Intelligence under Obama. Smart guy.

Only one problem. He is a known liar. He lied under oath, to Congress, about.... domestic surveillance. Literally the guy we should be trusting in this situation is someone who lied about the exact topic he is now giving authoritative insight regarding... on a national news program.

I know he isn't the only person saying Trump's claims are baseless, but did the news reporter who interviewed him ever once ask "ummmmm just to be clear you have lied under oath about domestic wiretapping/surveillance before Congress, why should we believe you now?"

I can't stand Trump, but I have to agree (in part) that the news media in this country is a joke. Soft ball questions, pre-determined narratives.

Obama Administration Releases Long Awaited New E.O. 12333 Rules on Sharing of Raw Signals Intelligence Information Within IC

By Jane Chong
Thursday, January 12, 2017, 12:38 PM 

The New York Times reported this morning that the Obama administration has put into place new rules allowing the NSA to disseminate ?raw signals intelligence information.? According to a 23-page, mostly declassified copy of the procedures, released today, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper signed the rules on Dec. 15 and Attorney General Loretta Lynch signed them on Jan. 3.

The changes have been a long time coming. On February 25, 2016, Charlie Savage reported for the Times that the Obama administration would soon be implementing a new system, years in the making, to provide more intelligence agencies across the federal government direct access to raw information collected by the NSA.

Recall that Executive Order 12333 permits dissemination of signals intelligence data only in accordance with procedures established by the DNI in coordination with the Defense Secretary and approved by the Attorney General. Under existing rules promulgated pursuant to the order, NSA analysts have long been tasked with filtering the surveillance information for the rest of the government?searching and evaluating the information directly, passing on only those portions of emails and phone calls that they determine relevant to colleagues at other agencies, and masking names and other information about innocent Americans using minimization procedures. The new framework does not change or expand communications collection, but puts into place procedures that allow the NSA to share certain raw, unminimized signals intelligence information with other Intelligence Community elements, specifically for authorized foreign intelligence and counterintelligence purposes.

We?ll update this post shortly with a summary of the procedures as described in the newly released document. In the meantime, check out Bob Litt?s helpful April Just Security post on the topic here.

[UPDATE: See our summary of the procedures here.]

Here?s the List: More Than a Dozen Proven Victims of Obama?s Many Wiretaps

snip:

WikiLeaks released the following list on February 23rd (see link here) of Obama Administration wire taps:

* The US National Security Agency bugged a private climate change strategy meeting; between UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin;

* Obama bugged Chief of Staff of UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for long term interception targetting his Swiss phone;

* Obama singled out the Director of the Rules Division of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Johann Human, and targetted his Swiss phone for long term interception;

* Obama stole sensitive Italian diplomatic cables detailing how Israel?s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu implored Italy?s Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi to help patch up his relationship with US President Barack Obama, who was refusing to talk to Netanyahu;

* Obama intercepted top EU and Japanese trade ministers discussing their secret strategy and red lines to stop the US ?extort[ing]? them at the WTO Doha arounds (the talks subsequently collapsed);

* Obama explicitly targeted five other top EU economic officials for long term interception, including their French, Austrian and Belgium phone numbers;

* Obama explicitly targetted the phones of Italy?s ambassador to NATO and other top Italian officials for long term interception; and

* Obama intercepted details of a critical private meeting between then French president Nicolas Sarkozy, Merkel and Berluscon, where the latter was told the Italian banking system was ready to ?pop like a cork?.

In addition to the above list we also know now that Obama wire tapped various individuals in the US media that were reporting information not flattering to the Obama Administration. It is widely known that Obama?s Justice Department targeted journalists with wiretaps in 2013:

* In 2013 the liberal Washington Post expressed outrage after the revelation that the Justice Department had investigated the newsgathering activities of a Fox News reporter as a potential crime in a probe of classified leaks. The reporter, Fox News? James Rosen and his family, were part of an investigation into government officials anonymously leaking information to journalists. Rosen was not charged but his movements and actions were tracked.

* Also in 2013, members of the Associated Press were also a target of the surveillance. The ultra liberal New Yorker even noted that ?In moderate and liberal circles, at least, the phone-records scandal, partly because it involves the dear old A.P. and partly because it raises anew the specter of Big Brother, may well present the most serious threat to Obama?s reputation.?

* Reporter Sharyl Attkisson said in 2014 that her personal computer and CBS laptop were hacked after she began filing stories about Benghazi that were unflattering to the Obama administration. A source who checked her laptop said the hacker used spyware ?proprietary to a government agency,? according to an article in the New York Post.

Pelosi Falsely Claims That Comey has ?Spoken Out? on Trump?s Wiretap Claim
freebeacon.com ^ | 3/7/17 | Cameron Cawthorne

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) falsely asserted on Tuesday morning during an appearance on "CBS This Morning" that FBI director James Comey has "spoken out" against President Donald Trump's wiretap claim.

Co-host Norah O'Donnell asked Pelosi whether she had seen evidence in her role on the House Intelligence Committee to support Trump's claim that former President Barack Obama had wiretapped Trump Tower.

"Once again, the president doesn't know what he's talking about because, first of all, the president can't do that," Pelosi said. "Maybe he's projecting that's something he'd like to do, but that isn't what President Obama did or could do."

DHS head: Trump Has ?convincing? Wiretap Proof
The Hill ^ | - 03/06/17 06:21 PM EST | BY MARK HENSCH

Posted on ‎3‎/‎6‎/‎2017‎ ‎10‎:‎01‎:‎37‎ ‎PM by drewh

Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly says President Trump possesses credible evidence that former President Barack Obama ordered the wiretapping of Trump Tower in New York City last year.

Trump claimed on Twitter last Saturday that Obama had his ?wires tapped? in Trump Tower before Election Day last year, making the accusation without offering any evidence.

?If the president of the United States said that, he?s got his reasons to say it,? Kelly said Monday on CNN?s ?The Situation Room." "[Trump?s] got some convincing evidence that that took place.?

Kevin Lewis, a spokesman for Obama, said last Saturday that Trump?s claims about the former president are ?simply false.?

?A cardinal rule of the Obama Administration was that no White House official ever interfered with any independent investigation led by the Department of Justice,? he said in a statement.

"As part of that practice, neither President Obama nor any White House official ever ordered surveillance on any U.S. citizen.?

White House spokesman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Sunday an investigation of Trump?s wiretapping claims should be included in any probe of ties between the president?s 2016 bid and Russia.

FBI director James Comey asked the Department of Justice to disavow Trump's claims that Obama ordered a wiretap, according to a New York Times report.

Wikileaks released thousands of documents Tuesday exposing the Central Intelligence Agency.

The documents and files exposed tools the CIA used to hack cellphones, TVs and computers.

The first trove of documents also imply Donald Trump was spied on with these CIA tools.

After the release today noted hacker Kim Dotcom said President Trump would ?totally go ballistic? if he knew what the Obama CIA did watching and listening to him 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

CIA Dirty Cyber Tricks?

‎3‎/‎8‎/‎2017‎ ‎7‎:‎37‎:‎18‎ ‎AM ? by detective ? 8 replies

The Central Intelligence Agency now can mimic foreign intelligence agencies? hack attacks by leaving electronic ?fingerprints? creating the false impression of a foreign intrusion into computer networks, according to claims accompanying a new WikiLeaks document dump. In other words, there may not be hard evidence that CIA operatives, say, used cyberspace to create a modern-day Reichstag fire to undermine the Trump administration, but it may be the case that the CIA has the technological capabilities to do such a thing, if it were so inclined.

There is evidence or Trump would not have popped of about it. Give it time. A bunch of dirt on the Obama administration to come out. Should be interesting.

:0008

So,you think there is evidence but they are withholding it. Got it. Makes perfect sense. :facepalm:
