TEXAS RANGERS -134 (Eovaldi) Vs. NY Yankees (Warren) The Yankees are 26-31 on the road; the Rangers are 35-20 home. The Yankees have slipped into a tie for the #2-3 AL Wild Card with Seattle, 1.5 games ahead of the recently surging Rangers. Aaron Judge is “expected” to return to the Yankees’ lineup tonight following his IL stay for an elbow injury. Send it in on the Yankees to come up big in a big game on the road as the pressure increas es? Nah. First of all, Bruce Bochy vs. Aaron Boone is a mismatch. Secondly, Will Warren’s road ERA is 7.20 (it’s 2.88 in Yankee Stadium), which, any way you look at it, doesn’t compare favorably with Nathan Eovaldi’s over all 1.49/0.89 ERA/WHIP after 18 starts. Eovaldi threw 6 innings of 1-run ball in Yankee Stadium in May. Carlos Rodon happened to throw 6 innings of 2-hit, shutout ball for New York in that game, which the Yankees eventually won 1-0. If Eovaldi and a decent Rangers’ pen can do almost as well, but Warren and a recently shaky Yankees pen do better, then more power to the visitor.

MILWAUKEE BREWERS -148 (Peralta) At Atlanta (Wentz) It’s a zig-zag move. Good pitcher off a bad outing, matched against ordinary pitcher off a great outing. Freddy Peralta, the Brewers’ opening day starter and American League All-Star selection, has a 3.08 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, a 12-5 Won-Loss record, but lasted only 4 innings in a 10-3 loss vs. the Cubs last Wednesday. Joey Wentz, on his fourth MLB team since the beginning of last season, 5.02 ERA and 1.44 WHIP for the Braves so far in 52 IP, is off 6 2/3 innings of 1-hit, shutout ball at the Royals the same day. The Braves managed to lose the game, as they’ve done in each of Wentz’s last three starts. Brewers he has faced are hitting .333 against him with 11 RBI in 21 at-bats.

OVER 11.5 Toronto at Colorado (Berrios vs. Molina) Hopefully we’re not late to the Over party that has been taking place involving Rockies games: four in a row in this ballpark, with 23, 13, 14 and 16 total runs scored. They’ve also lost 18-0 recently on the road and eight of their last ten games have gone Over. Their most experi enced relievers were given a new lease on life in recent trades. Only 44% of their games have gone Over for the season, 48.2% of the home games. But things are heat ing up at Coors with summer temps getting higher and the thin, low-humidity air getting drier: 95 degrees with 5% humidity for tonight’s first pitch, involving home-run ball tosser Berrios and a rookie in his second MLB start. Baseballs go bang-zoom, to the moon?
