But – oh, there is always a but, some big ones in this case -- the Giants are 5-17 in his starts, and on their home field when opponents start a lefty they’re 13-22, averag ing only 2.6 runs per game. Tonight’s lefty happens to be 12-6 Won-Lost, 2.61 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, with 6 innings of 5-hit, 2-run, 8-0 K-BB ball under Matt Boyd’s belt against the Giants earlier this season. The Cubs have averaged 5.15 runs per game on the road. The run-scor ing disparity is hopefully large enough to keep Counsell from screwing it up.
