boston college (+4.5) over georgetown

hoyas sitting at 10-0 but its about as phony a 10-0 as youll see. thier big east conf opener vs rutgers was a decent win, but aside from that, the hoyas have beaten up on some real scrub teams. boston college stands out in one area: getting to the line. they aggressively attack the basketball and shoot a ton more free throws than their opposition (bc 300 attempts/opponents 168 so far this yr). georgetown a little better shooting team, bc hits the glass a little harder. this game really is almost a completely even matchup. home court should account for a couple of points but i just think bc is the better team. eagles didnt play a super rugged non-conference schedule, but they did play a significantly tougher non-conf slate than georgetown. eagles should win straight up.

richmond (+3) over st.joseph

i cant buy into st.joes as a legit top 10 team. no doubt their guard play is as good as anyones in the country with west and nelson, but theyre such a finesse team who is very deficient in rebounding the basketball. nelson is their #2 rebounder. while some could view that as nelson being a great all-around guard, to me-- thats much more of an indictment of st.joes as a team. both teams shoot FTs and the 3 well. richmond sitting at what appears to be a mediocre 8-5, but theyve played some very good teams (took providence to the wire, was down 4 to wake forest with under 10:00 to play before running out of gas, won at colorado). spiders win this game

Agree 100% on GTown. Everyone thought they'd suck this year but now they are off to this deceptive 10-0 start. Like you said, Rutgers is the only decent win. BC is deeper and more talented.

No opinion on the S Joes game, but must disagree -- I think they definitely are a top 10 team. No, they don't rebound well, but that backcourt is sick. Maybe the best in the nation. Nelson is the best player in college basketball and theyve got some good role players and a very good coach. I wouldn't sleep on this team.

Just my .2 cents:D

I agree with Jeff, St. Joe's is a legit top 10 team. Not only that, but the line is right on for this game. I wouldn't go too hard on Richmond, although this should be a close game. Could come down to free throws. Good luck!

jeff/greystreet:

thanks for your respective replies. nothing wrong with disagreeing. personally, i dont see st.joes as a top 10 team. top 25, probably. but im seeing louisville, carolina, kansas, texas, gonzaga, and florida (to name a few) ranked lower than them and thats preposterous. in the case of gonzaga, my argument can be refuted by simply telling me "scoreboard" on zags/hawks game. understandable. but i think zags are much better overall at this point. but until st.joes loses, i suppose they can only climb in the rankings. when all is said and done this year, i think we'll see st.joes somewhere between 18-22 in the rankings. if someone wants to archive this post and jam it in my face in march, by all means go for it, lol. ive been wrong before. but ill stick to my guns and call for them to be a borderline top 25 team toward march. i genuinely appreciate the feedback and always like talking hoops with intelligent hoopsters

added: brown (+9) 2h over wake forest

wake forest has gotta be laughing at these guys. up 28 at halftime and didnt break a sweat. but with acc play coming up next game and 3 ranked opponents in the next 2 wks for wake, i think theyll be more than content with a 30pt win in this one. im not seein a total rout

let go parcel service! show some pride. keep it w/in 37

I too was on Brown in the 2nd H, even played the 2nd H ML but they didn't do the backdoor. I knew this team was bad but I figured WF would look past the easy win & on to ACC play.

fairfield 2h (+10) over duke
same situation as brown. duke cruising. acc play coming up in the coming days. unlike brown, fairfield is at least a good team. certainly didnt play like it for the final 8:00 of the 1h but by and large, a decent maac team. coaching ties as well in this game. if duke wants to bury fairfield, id be surprised. stags hang inside this number

GL as I'm with you here as well. I played the U71.5 as well. I'm a little surprised that the # went up from 70. Duke is shooting well but 19 of their pts came off of Fairfield turnovers which led to easy buckets. I think this game slows down considerably.
