Detroit (Weaver) @ Atlanta (Marquis)

Well the Braves have been hotter than an egg in a frying pan in June and I look for it to continue today behind the arm of the very talented Jason Marquis.

Detroit sends Jeff Weaver to the mound who has been anything but impressive in his last 3 starts with an ERA of 6.30 and a WHIP of 1.50. He has gotten very little run support all year with the Tigers just managing 2.9 runs a game when he gets the start while he is allowing the opposition to score 6.7 in his last 3. This is his first start against the Braves.

Atlanta counters with Jason Marquis who has pitched well at home going 3-1 with an ERA of 3.37 and a WHIP of 1.250, allowing just 20 hits in 24 innings of work at home. He is 2-1 in his last 3 trips to the mound with an ERA of 3.72 and a WHIP of 1.34. This is also his first start against the Tigers.

The Tigers offense has had allot of trouble scoring averaging just 3.8 runs a game on the highway while defensively they are giving up 5.9 runs. They have committed 59 errors on the year and the bullpen has been of little help with an ERA of 6.67 on the road giving up 15 home runs.

The Braves offense has been hot in the month of June they are hitting .302 in their last 10 games against right-handed starters, they are scoring 4.5 runs a game at home while allowing their opponents 3.9 runs. The bullpen has been very solid in their last 3 games with an ERA of 1.75 and an impressive WHIP of 0.82.

The Braves are on a hot streak and should be able to continue it today against a poor Tigers team and an average pitcher backed up by a horrible bullpen.

Playing Atlanta -159

Yes, Robert glad to see your write ups once again ~ I'm one of your big (mostly silent) fans. As far as I can tell your always on the correct pick, even though sometimes they don't pan out. The Riceman ~
