After the worst week of the baseball season, today got this week off on the right foot and hopefully things continue to go in the right direction......
And, although it's only early August and the beginning of the preseason, it's still kinda nice to hear Al Michaels and John Madden on a Monday night.....I love fall, but the worst part about fall when you live here is the inevitability of what follows..... :cursin:
For whatever reason, I've got three games that I really like for Tuesday. Here goes.....
SEATTLE MARINERS (+102) Yes, I'm betting the worst team in the American League. For the same reason I can't back the A's, I am betting against the Twins as they travel to the west coast, a very tired team, after playing a lot of very tough baseball (18 innings on Sunday) in Minnesota. The bullpen must be tired as hell, and I like the fact that Seattle has been waiting at home for Minnesota to show up, and Gil Meche is a very respectable 4-1 in his career against the Twins, even though he hasn't been that sporty this year. Good spot for Seattle IMO.
TORONTO BLUE JAYS (+108) Part heart, part head, but I think the Jays are catching the Injuns in a good spot. As I type this, Cleveland is just finishing up nine innings in the Windy City, while I am sure the Jays are already in their rooms on Lake Erie. The Jays may look to build on their victory in the Bronx with their interim skip and I like the looks of that 7.08 ERA that Chad Durbin is sporting.
NEW YORK METS (-123) Steve Trachsel used to be one of my favourite fades, but I think his record at Shea this year cannot be ignored (7-3, 2.27 ERA). I think the Mets get the job done against Pete Munro and an underachieving Astro squad.
Good Luck and have a good Tuesday,
Sharky
(P.S.....I'm not at all superstitious, but Doc, if you're reading this, can you do that spiritual stuff, or Zen, or whatever that crap was you did on Monday. Thanks buddy.
