startin' with the game on the smurf turf. here's a fun game you can play at home... start a pool where everybody guesses how long into the broadcast until one of the witty announcers says "do not adjust your television, folks. the turf really is blue." followed by his partner laughing hysterically. great stuff.
nevada (-3) 2 units. this line movement tells me i'm on the right side. the action on this website looks like it's about 50/50. i'm in a pool where everybody picks the winners... 25 out of 30 are on maryland. me likey. anyways, nevada can run the ball, as they only need to slightly top their average output to surpass navy for the #1 rushing team in the country. and maryland is not stellar at stopping the run, as they are 72nd in the country, allowing 149 ypg and almost 4 yards per carry. on the other side of the ball, nevada is also very good at stopping the run. if they can make maryland's offense one-dimensional, i like their chances.
as far as motivation goes, that also favors nevada. with a few weeks left in the season, maryland still had their sights on the acc championship game. travelling to boise to play nevada... a definite letdown. i think the wolfpack have a lot to prove today. they were shutout in their bowl game last year. and 2 years ago, they lost this bowl game to miami, 21-20.
