under (46.5) 2 units. i'm banking on the team playing hard for chuckie keaton, as he wraps up his 13-year career in logan. while utah state's defense hasn't been as good as in the last few years, they won't have to be great to shut down akron. assuming the aggies are ready to play, it's hard to see akron generating any offense whatsoever. on the other side of the ball, it's been a surprisingly rough year for keaton. well, partly due to more injuries, which is sadly no surprise. he basically missed 7 games, but even when he played he wasn't very good. 3 TDs and 6 INTs. no reason to suspect he'll do much better against a solid akron d.

that said, i don't think utah st will need to score very many points to cover this spread. despite a decent d, akron barely qualifies as a mediocre football team. the best team they beat this season was buffalo, which finished 5-7. the aggies should be able to grind out an ugly win.

let's go ahead and call the final score.... 13-3 utah st.

ah, the good ol' boca raton bowl. a tradition unlike any other.

i'll start with a disclaimer... smitty is intoxicated. :toast:

temple (-3) 3 units. not a big surprise to anyone who's read smitty's posts this year. i've made a decent chunk of change on temple. when they come to play, their defense is one of the best in the country. and, obviously, i'm counting on them to be ready to play tonight. although i'll be up front about it... there's no guarantee they'll be fired up for the boca raton bowl. IF, IF, IF they are, they will dominate this game. this is a defense that returned all 11 starters from last year. and with the exception of a couple games after the disappointing loss to nd, they have been very good. toledo relies on the running game and that falls into the strength of the temple defense. if that d is ready to play and walker doesn't turn the ball over, temple will roll tonight.

oh one other potential snag... ruhle is fucking TERRIBLE at managing a game. i've watched a lot of temple football this year and you can pretty much expect he'll waste at least 2 TO's each half. so if this game is close, that will be a factor. obviously i am hoping this one won't be close.
