boston college is hardly a legitimate #4 team in the country, but ive got zero faith in notre dame to be the ones to knock them off first. with the line at basically a pick, it makes it even tougher for me to really think of backing notre dame; boston college is 5-0 in games decided by 4 or less, whereas notre dame's last three losses have come by 1,5, and 3. notre dame backers could certainly make a case that notre dame is better than their record and i would absolutely agree with that. but they just are not a big-game team. they were 1-4 against ranked teams at home last year, and theyre 1-1 this year, and a lot of those gms were gms with short lines and pick 'ems -- gms notre dame was expected to have a good shot to win. incidentally, those 2 wins they did get were both against uconn. normally, this is a time when im all over the middle-of-the-pack team to knock off an overrated ranked team. but not tonight. think its gonna be villanova a few games down the road that will end bc's run. i think everyone realizes that boston college is dodging bullets left and right and its only a matter of time before they get it handed to 'em, but dont tonight being the night. irish just not that kind of team.
