xavier muskateers (-3)
ill-chicago flames (+3.5) and moneyline (+150)
both pretty strong plays for me.
love the way this game sets up for xavier. theyre going through an adjustment period after losing a couple guys (as well as matta to osu), but this is still a dominant home team. theyve always played a solid non-conference schedule and they have lost just twice in 29 games at the cintas center in non-conference. the only two teams to beat X at home in non-conf were rivals (miami and cincinnati). creighton is 5-0, but its early and im not sure theyre anywhere near as strong as past editions. this is their first road game of the season, and its against a team who is coming off a rare home loss in a building in which they dominate. also love the upcoming schedule for xavier: after this game, they dont play again until december 11th. so this should be a very focused xavier team tonight. no distractions or anything coming up.
as for uic, just think theyre the better team. nothing isu does is all that impressive. flames tank job in bowling green was no surprise, coming on the heels of a 1pt loss to #3 georgia tech. didnt expect their best effort there. id be real surprised if they didnt get this win tonight. i just like the way these guys compete. seen em play in person a couple times and always come away impressed. no earth shattering logic, just think this is a tossup game that uic should win.
