tennessee came to play, illinois-chi shoulda won outright (free throw masonry hurt), wyoming held on. louisville 2h under went from easy win to 1 pt loss in the final 1:20. all told, 3-1 so dont exactly want to bring out the violin.

tuesday:

ball state cardinals (+14.5) (in cincinnati)

bsu bringin back one of the most athletic and experienced teams in the mac. probably the 4th best team in the conference. theyve got some guys who can ball. cats will test 'em, but i think cards are up to this challenge down in the queen city . kentucky by 8 or 10 points.

in maui:

tennessee volunteers (+10)

not going as heavy on the vols tonight, but still cant pass up this double-digit line. this team has loads of talent. i just dont see carolina being anywhere near 10 pts better on a neutral court 2,000 miles from home. every year, the maui tourney has one team that really surprises people and i think it could be UT this year. vols can match the heels athletes. dont want to see this one in the 80s though. mid70s is how tenn needs to play it and i think theyll be fine.

2nd half play:

stanford (-3) over byu

cougs had their chances in the 1h when stanford came out flat. trees settled in and slowly took back control of the game. ill lay it with stanford for the final 20:00.

G...any ideas on the Marshall game?...E Tenn St. is good but on the road laying 2 with thier leading scorer hurting...(Tim Smith played 7 minutes last game) ...against an improved Marshall team looks tempting...

thanks

i tossed that one back and forth and decided its best to pass. my main concern is that marshall has a habit of allowing the opposition to dictate tempo. they will get caught up in a grind it out game if thats what the opponent wants. they will run and gun if thats what the opponent wants. happened all the time last year. and it happened in the first game (vs. wilmington). now you know etsu is going to want to run and gun. im not sure thats how marshall should try and play this one. marshall is such an enigma. i think im going to wait until half. etsu made me boatloads (and i mean boatloads) of money last year. but i think youre right -- not sure if they should be laying here. that said, etsu probably jumps out early and marshall will be a good 2h bet. thats my take.

halftime:

ball state cardinals 2nd half (+8.5)

my main concern was bsu surviving the first 10:00. they withstood that and came to play. this game should stay close. cards have an experienced team and shouldnt fold.

halftime:

unlv rebels (-5)

gaels have had a busy early-season schedule. not sure they can hang on here in vegas. rebs look like dogshit in the 1h, but i think they make a push and end up winning the game by a few baskets.
