4-0 over the weekend but had my ass haded to me on a platter in football going 6-12 in college and losing my one large play on the Patriots who with the help of the refs stole one from the Brownies who outplayed them.
E Mich +3 (Betonline) (1)
E Mich under 134' (5 dimes) (3)
E Mich outplayed UMass on this floor and if they had made a few free throws they would have won. Both teams have kept decent company with GB taking down Virginia in their last out and their guard Sykes is one of the quickest and most fun players to watch that I've seen play this year. The Phoenix are just about everybody's pick to take the horizon this season. They hung 75 on the Cavs and that's not easy to do, shot lights out from the arc.
Despite that, I like this Eagle team, they are vastly improved and actually have a few guys that can put the ball in the hoop. The real strength of the eagles is their defense though. EMU's Coach Murphy is a disciple of Jim Boeheim at Cuse where he spent several years as an assistant. He brought the 2-3 zone defense with him and the Eagles play it well as evidenced by them holding a UMass team that averaged close to 90 ppg to under 70 pts. When Sykes darts to the rim tonight, he should expect some company.
What I really don't like..... ref. the side play is that EMU struggles to get any support from the community. They barely got 1,000 in the gym to see a top 25 team in UMass and they probably won't hit that number tonight. Their home floor is not much of a factor. Eastern only hits 63% of their FTs as well. Still, this is GB's first true game on an opponents floor and the Eagles have held their own while in very deep their last 3 games.
What I really do like... ref the total play is that both teams are very good defensive teams, allowing their combined opponents to about 38 % from the field. Both sides are weak from the FT line as well with neither over 70%. If the game stays as close as the line suggests it will there won't be a 2 minute foul fest at the end.
This is as much work as I've put into a game all season so we'll see if it rewards. :0003
