just 2 plays tonight on the short card...
syracuse (-4) 3 units. believe me, i am no fan of syracuse. this is a fairly mediocre team. however, they are 2-1 in conference at home, with the loss coming to pitt. that said, this is almost a pure anti-nd play. this team only played one semi-true road game prior to conference play, and that was before jackson (freshman) took over the point for the pot head. in their 3 conference road games, they lost at georgetown by 18, at villanova by 15, and at st johns by 3. jackson is in way over his head. it is very difficult to win on the conference road with a freshman point guard. now they travel to 'cuse to face that famous 2-3 zone. they haven't even played the other teams in the conference that i am pretty sure play a lot of 2-3 (uconn and providence). i look for nd to really struggle offensively tonight.
marist (-2.5) 1 unit. my first maac play of the year. manhattan fattened up on the dregs of the maac. don't get me wrong; i still give them credit for winning those games. but reality is starting to set in. they have lost 2 of their last 3, both at home. marist isn't setting the road on fire, but they are 2-2, so they have a couple road wins in conference. it is telling when, in a match-up of two 7-3 (in conference) teams, the road team is favored.
