Figured I'd get this up before hopping in the shower. Not like anybody else is crazy enough to be awake at this hour. Yesterday was acceptable?Brewers win really helped me?but both the Tigers and D'Backs had reliable relievers kill some decent sized leads otherwise I would have been looking at clearing 10 units. One lousy system total was all that showed yesterday and I was crazy enough not to play it?system totals are totally on fire this month?this is a bonus from my system that I really wasn't expecting but will certainly key on for next season, and perhaps for that book that I was dreaming about writing. Probably wait until the off-season at this point in time; looking to do some damage over the last 12 games or so in '07.

Blue Jays are the only system pick today but, boy, is that one highly regarded. Burnett is throwing the ball as well as anyone is baseball?I've got him currently rated up near Jake Peavy territory. Can you imagine the line on a game with Lester at Petco facing Peavy?...we'd be looking at around -150, no doubt, and the Jays own a much greater home-field advantage than the Padres AND they hit lefties much better. Bosox can hit well against righties (OPS .807), but the Jays are a little more potent than that facing lefties (OPS .864 is now the highest in MLB?1 point higher than Brewers). Throw in the fact that the Jays are 17-5 at home to lefties (.773) and I think we've got a strong case for backing the Jays today. It doesn't hurt that the Jays hit .348 last 10 vs L (Burres,Rogers). Also doesn't hurt with them taking the series opener, in shutout fashion. Plays on the Jays are a little scary to me, right now, as I watch most of their games and they have not been playing great ball over the past couple of weeks, but I have been waiting for several days for a juicy line for this matchup and have been given it, so I must take advantage. Jays struggle at all at the plate, which is always a possibility for them, and this game plays under. I also like the Red Sox team total under 4.5 at even money. Burnett is the showcase for this matchup, along with the Jays facing a lefty. This is one of the better lines that I've seen all season.

Other sides I'm looking at include the Marlins, Reds, Brewers, Phillies when it opens, Tigers, Rangers and Dodgers in game #1. Marlins have a shot, doing their best work vs lefties, being on fire at the plate, and facing a soft Reyes here. Zambrano has poor numbers against the Reds, Harang will give his boys a definate shot, and I'm giving the Reds a small edge at the dish for this one. Brewers just looks to be a mismatch at SP and the Brew-Crew look to be making a decent final push to make the playoffs?they need this one bad and are very likely to take it. Phillies, if it's Kip Wells, will look real strong; line yesterday was a gift but it should be higher today; Hamels will be coming off the DL but this wasn't a very serious injury so he should be in decent form?he was looking great before going down; Cards were able to hit lefties about a month ago but now they're having trouble hitting anybody (did get 11, though, yesterday, didn't they?); I'll like it v.Wellemeyer, also, but would prefer Wells as the Phillies have toyed with him before...the way they're hitting I think they should do fine v.Wellemeyer. Tiger forks may have just cost themselves the playoffs with Zumaya's crappy inning which cost me a sweep of system picks; I still like them, here, with Verlander facing Westbrook, but I'll attack it small. Rangers the edge with the sticks and I prefer Millwood to Silva in that matchup. Dodgers Billingsley is really looking sharp the second half; he has poor numbers against the Rockies, including a rough game at Coors in July and a mediocre game at home vs in August; he DOES, however, own a 1.64 era over his past 5 starts since last facing the Rockies?the Dodgers, and Chad, are 4-1 over those starts; Francis has 3 quality starts against the Dodgers this season so maybe the under is worth a look, though the system call is 52% over the 9.5, partly due to this being Coors and partly due to expected output by both clubs' sticks (Dodgers OPS vs L about 40 points higher than vs R); Dodgers are 13-7 on the road to L (.650).

Totals I'll have to consider further. Nothing stands out, save that Petco under (Eddings makes it rock), but system totals are treating me great for September so I'd be best to consider some action there.

Looking for a solid Tuesday.
Will post picks.

On the Jays, so far.
Now will have a quick boo at team totals.

(w/relative system number; + for overs, etc.)

Nats un4 -115 (-9)Maine with good numbers vs; Nats 7-day OPS of .813 makes this a pass for me
--have Mets at +2

marlins ov5 -115 (+12)do their best work vs lefties and face a soft one here; Marlins 7-day a lofty .886...they did get 6 yesterday, in the loss to Smoltz, so this looks very breakable, only concern maybe the hitter's park at Turner, but that didn't keep things tame yesterday
--have Braves at +6; Seddon looks like nothing special but Marlins the hotter team at the plate (Braves 7-day only .730)

brewers ov5.5 +100 (+13)I'm not expecting much from Paulino here and the 'Stros pen is pretty bad; Brew-Crew 7-day at only .720, mostly due to their current road trip; this one looks okay but I'd like it much better at a 5
--have Astros at -3; Sheets a little sub-par over his past couple; Astros 7-day at .929, making any action vs the Astros a little risky; mind you, that .929 is really a result of their 22-hit outburst on Sunday, and likely doesn't take into account their blanking on Monday...just a few days ago Astros 7-day OPS was under .700

(2)lad ov5.5 -125 (+11)Dodgers will get to keep their vs L lineup intact for both sides of the doubleheader, and they're best vs lefties; Dodgers 7-day a solid .849; hard to say what to expect from Redman but I'm not expecting any miracles
(2)Col ov5.5 -125 (+9)Rockies 7-day a sparkling .969 and they've scored the second most runs in MLB over that time (2nd to A's); Wells has been decent as a Dodger so this one is a tough call

pitt un3.5 -120 (-12)Maddux with good numbers vs; Pirates 7-day at .824 but that won't include their shutout Monday
Sd un4 -125 (-8)Gorzelanny with good numbers vs but Pads OPS vs L is about 80 points higher than vs R; Padres 7-day at .796
--Eddings is THE under ump (along with Hirschbeck, I suppose) so I must give some kind of under a shot for this one...probably best to stick with the game total as picking a side for this contest looks futile, though I have to agree with the system call on the Padres (58%); still no value on the sides at current lines--Gorzelanny will definately give the Pirates a shot today

bosox un4.5 +100 (-9)Burnett with good numbers vs and is throwing beautifully lately; Bosox 7-day a scary .866, which likely doesn't include their shutout Monday; I think I want a piece, but I'm heavily into the moneyline--not much more expensive--so I don't know about going deeper into this contest
Jays ov4.5 -135 (+11)Jays with the highest OPS in MLB vs L but face Lester for the first time Tuesday; Jays 7-day OPS a sorry .683, but that number was actually under .600 a couple of days ago; Jays hitting .348 last 10 vs L (Burres,K.Rogers); I think that 5 or 6 would be plenty enough to secure a Jays victory
--ump Rapuano is historically pretty even, but is 24-40 on totals over the past couple of seasons, which is 62.5% unders

Yanks ov6 -115 (+12)Yanks 7-day at only .724, which again won't include Monday; I did suggest that this homestand would bring out the best in their bats, especially facing the Orioles, and they did start out with an 8 Monday; Leicester likely won't give them much trouble
--have O's at -2; really would have preferred the kid Kennedy going in this one, as far as trying the Yanks runline is concerned, but Mussina has shown some signs of hope lately so maybe he can actually get the W; I wouldn't mind an O's win as I'd like to see the Tigers at least in contention until the final days...I think that would keep the Tigers as a viable play, I'm just disgusted with the way that they threw the game away yesterday

chisox un4.5 -155 (-11)this price is disgusting; Chisox 7-day at .717, again won't count their outburst on Monday
Kc un5 -160 (-7)Royals 7-day only .686; price is, again, too high

Oak ov5 +100 (+12)A's 7-day at .907 and, likely not counting Monday, they scored the most runs in MLB over that time; facing Weaver gives them a good shot to continue their hot production, despite the down day Monday
--have m's at +6; Gaudin nothing special lately; M's 7-day at only .738, after being well over .800 just a few days ago

d'rays un4.5 -160 (-8)Lackey with good numbers vs; D'Rays 7-day at .839
--have Angels at +1; do their best work at home but Hammel has shown some signs of life lately

That's the lot of them.
Much to consider for today.

I should hop on that Petco/Eddings total already.

GL today with your solid as usual MLB selections.

I try to mix it up with a few MLs in the NFL, had a losing week 1, winning week 2 (mostly due to those MLs). Think the favs will bounce back in week 3.

thanks man...same

I'm just 'capping Wednesday now and there's some goodies on the way.
I really like the Devil Rays in that Shields-Colon matchup. With any luck they'll be at dog money and my money will go hunting. Can't see them being faves, not the way this series has been priced so far. I'm now hoping for a Devil Rays victory tonight as, you've probably figured me out on this by now, I believe that will only strengthen the play for tomorrow. Some others look okay but this is the first one I felt the need to immediately comment on.

Think my Tuesday's are done.
Will post soon.
Only large play is on the Jays.
I see the price has totally climbed on that one.
Hope you got it in early.
Still worth a shot, I'd say, even if it hits -150; I see it at -137 now...still a system pick...got mine at -115.
Looks real good.
Just need 4 or more Jays runs and I say they take it.
Almost tried that Bosox under 4.5, but it went to -130 before I could play the +100.
Got enough on the Jays.

Phillies opened pretty expensive.
Not a system pick because of the price, but still looks like a good play.
Phillies should finish the year strong, whether or not they make it.

one of my places is opening up their Wednesday lines.
some hot looking ones.
These 3 look great:
mariners (F.Hernandez-Meyer)
devil rays (Shields-Colon)
red sox (Bucholz-Litsch)

I really need the Bosox to go down tonight, but I think they avoid the sweep tomorrow. Jays will get their first look at no-hit-Bucholz while Jays' Litsch is starting to stink like I've been expecting from him for a while.

Astros at home (Gutierrez-Bush) and Giants on the road (Zito-Davis) also look like decent plays, both at fairly good dog money (+120's to '30's). System call may be mid-50's for both of those babies.

'bout to check out Wednesday's totals.
I'm not pounding totals today, again...should have been going mental this month.

call me crazy, but the Orioles will be a system pick for the Pettitte-Burres matchup. Yanks not strong against lefties, Burres with decent numbers vs in limited and he's coming off of a very well pitched game against the Blue Jays (for what that's worth). The under 10.5 also looks like a good play. I think I might get me some of that Orioles +1.5 at the current +150.

You may be right
I may be crazy
But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for

That finishes me. Obviously I need the Jays victory to have a good day.
Kinda going for a possible payload from all these IF plays.
Expecting good things.
Tomorrow looks bright, as well. Grab the Mariners (-125) and Red Sox (-108) before they go up in price. I also like the D'Rays at +132?Shields worth a shot there, and the D'Rays are a team that I think finishes strong (Hendrix save the bullpen).

I'm outta here before I write my autobiography already.

OMG what a freakin' relief

I feel like an idiot for not playing it under, though another hit here or there and it would have actually gone over.
Still...saw lots of under players posting so congrats--nice call. I didn't expect such a good game from Lester, who DID leave the bases loaded in the 1st after only allowing 1.

phew

saves my night--not looking great elsewhere, save maybe on some IF's

have the numbers up soon
