Colorado at OAKLAND

I normally don't like laying 160 or more in any game, but it's hard to pass on OAKLAND today. COLO is 2-12 in their past 14, while Oakland is 11-3. Mulder has been pitching phenomenally, going 5-1 at home with 2.17 ERA and the BP is a run better at home too. COLO is 6-13 when ASTACIO starts, and OAKLAND is 6-2 vs COL the past 3 seasons. Throw in the fact that COL only hits only .217 on the road vs Lefties, and well, I gotta go A's. I also like the UNDER here as ASTACIO has pithced some good games AWAY from COORS, but gets shelled there. UNDER is 13-6 when Mulder starts and 16-5 in A's last 21 at home.

Oakland -165
UNDER 8.5 -120

RC,
I don't like laying that kind of chalk on a straight up play either, but I had to take the A's as well. Every stat I looked at had them getting an edge!!!!

Let's bring that early one home,
HC

Arizona at SEATTLE

SEA has yet to lose a 3 game series and I don't see it happening here. Although ARIZ is a very good team, SEA is 7-1 in Game three after a loss, and 13-7 overall. Abbott has been very tough at home, going 6-1 with a 3.27 ERA, which is a full point better than his overall ERA. SEA is 11-3 in games started by Abbott, and 20-8 in day games, 18-11 vs LH starters. Stats for ARIZ are very similar, but ANDERSON is somewhat of a hard luck pitcher as they rarely give him any support. In his last two starts, ARI has scored 1 run total!

I just see SEATTLE pulling out this one in a close low scoring game. SEATTLE 4 Arizona 2

Bobby the TERRIBLE Jones is only that way at home where the PADs have STILL yet to win for the guy. He doesn't pitch long, usually 5-6 innings, but has been somewhat effective on the road, where the PAD's are much better it seems. SCHOENWEIS on the other hand is very tough at home, going 7-1 at Edison Field. He's not a BIG UNIT, more of a Glavine type, and with the sun overhead, may make his pitches even more effective. I like the ANGELS in this spot, as both pens were used alot last nite, but SCHOENWEIS is capable of going 8, and then bring on, PERCIVAL the GREAT!! OF course, SD didn't use Hoffman last nite, so he's rested if needed, just hope he's not!

Tempted to go UNDER here, but that would make FOUR STRAIGHT! I'll just play my "homer" HALOS to win again today...

ANGELS -117

a note for future use... the ANGELS field crew soaks the area in front of the plate to slow down all the balls smacked there when SCHOENWEIS pitches, hence his great home record. He's a ground ball pitcher when on his game. It may be useful in his next start.

WISH I had read HAPPY's insight before playing the ANGELS as SCHOENWEIS was not effective, unable to keep anything down in the zone. The huge 125 pitch count in his last outing was apprarent.

All that mud won't help a ball off the wall!!

They can still come back, but now down by four. Got it on local TV here. On to tonite...

San Fran at TEXAS

REUTER is on a nice run in his last five giving up 1,1,2,2, and 0 in those starts. The BP has let him down as he's only won two of those starts. Neither Rodriguez or Nen were used last night, so the PEN is in decent shape. ROGERS has come up with two quality starts in a row, giving up only 12 hits, 3 runs in 14 innings, after getting shelled in back to back games before that. With SF hitting nearly .300 on the year vs LH starters, I look for them to get to ROGERS and into the TEX BP. I still think 11.5 is way too high with an HP UMP who is 7-10 HT and 6-10 O/U for the year. Going with the GIANTS and UNDER.

These two should have scored a ton more yesterday and still managed to get to 11 after squandering tons of runners. MATTES has not been effective since his debut, and WAKEFIELD is also struggling. His games have gone UNDER 8 of the last 10, but he may not be in there too long.

I am basing this on HAPPY's insight mainly as I am tailing him somewhat. I have looked at the game and can't see any value in either side, but do like the fact of the tired BULLPENS and hot bats.

BOSTON OVER 9 even

** for you trendies: BOSTON 10-1 on TUESDAY and 16-3 on Artificial turf. I'd be on em, but with an uncertainty in the PEN, and SOX going for road sweep, I'll pass.

Detroit at CINCY

Besides being the worst Home Team in MLB, CINCY really stinks with REITSMA on the hill as they have gone 1-9 in his home starts. WEAVER has great stuff, and has been throwing it well so I'll look for the TIGERS to come back after yesterday's debacle. The HP tends to favor the OVER, so I'll pass on the side and play the small favorite.

DETROIT -110

Toronto at NY METS

This game is looking like CUBS game earlier... two cold hitting teams, two strong UNDER pitchers, on road and home that is, and an UNDER HP UMP. The fact the line is at 7.5 at least makes sense, but I can't lay the -125 to go UNDER on a 7.5. I'm looking for TORONTO to break one streak, and keep another going... they have dropped 8 straight at SHEA, but are 9-0 in CARPENTER's road starts... I'll go for the NO SWEEP!

Cleveland at HOUSTON

COLON has smelt like perfume on the road this year, while stinking of manure at home. Can't explain it really, just has to be a mental thing with him. He's a stellar 7-1 with a 2.90 ERA on Road, and dismal at home. He threw a 6 hit shutout last time out ( I went against him! ) REYNOLDS can't get anyone out lately, especially at home. CLEV has a better road record than HOU does at home, and are only a small favorite. I realize HOUSTON has been hot, and CLEV not, but this series has NEVER been swept, dating back five years, and I don't think it will be tonite either. Series has gone 2-1 each time, let's see it continue!

Cleveland -115

Take about $75 from that winnings and buy some pants two sizes too big so you can get that bankroll to fit in them. I always love to have that problem!!

Just wanted to throw my praise in as well. I love this thread cause it covers most games and has a writeup to back the choices, and that helps me out a lot. Really helped me with the plays i was wavering with today.
Thanks man, i appreciate it!!
