1-1-1 last night with a tough half-run loss on det/bal over and hou scoring a meaningless run in the bottom of the eighth to push. now 55-38 overall. for tonight:
sd/mon over 8-: see a lot of good talk about peavy around the net. agree that he has promising talent, but what i see is a young pitcher with a career 5.66 road era. in his only trip to olympic stadium last august expos hammered him for 8 runs in 3.1 innings, hitting .429 in the process. hernandez has turned into a known flammable; his era @ oly is 7.50. hp ump marsh isn't going to help eithers' cause issuing 9 bb/gm this year.
sf/fla over 7-: this is a last minute add so may not be well thought out, but can't fathom schmidt and pavano sporting this number. although schmidt has been hot, both these starters carry career era's over 5 against tonight's opponents.
pit/hou under 9-: i've posted up reasons for this play in various spots including renata's thread. pitt has performed poorly in hou of late after the west coast swing and barret a killer under ump.
tor/tex over 11: it's pretty widely known that halladay is having some problems with his off-speed stuff this year. lewis is not major league starter material. someone posted a while back that wind in from right in arlington produces a wind tunnel effect out to left @ arlington, and cursory research seems to bear this out. anyway, wind in from right tonight.
bos/kc under 10: given boston's bp this play is out there, but i couldn't resist after the total went to 10. fossum a career 3.44 era on the road so maybe he'll give us a few good innings tonight. hp ump craft one of the best under guys going right now.
