North Texas is currently riding a 26-game winning streak against conference foes and this is the only reason why they are the faves tonight. However, we are going against this streak, and all trends, and take the team that we feel is the better all-around team at this point. Both teams have stepped up in competition to start the season but one has had far more success than the other. Anyone want to guess what the number 290 represents? It?s the total number of yards that North Texas gained in their last two games against Tulsa and Kansas State. That?s an average of 145 yards per game. Even worse! North Texas rushed the ball for a total of 62 times in those games and only gained 157 total yards, that?s 2.53 yards per carry. It gets better! Their passing game was virtually non-existent. North Texas averaged only 66.5 yards per game in their last 2 contests and never broke 100 yards in either game. We hear all of this talk about how powerful their ground game is and yet they could only muster up 70 yards on 36 carries against a Tulsa defense that gives up an average of 225 yards per game on the ground and ranks as one of the nation?s worst at stopping it. That?s 1.94 yards per carry against a horrible run defense. So how powerful is their ground game? Not very powerful at all.The bottom line is that both teams have faced tougher competition every week and Troy is actually getting better while North Texas is getting worse. Troy averaged over 20 points per game against Mizzou and So. Carolina and was very competitive in both games until 2nd half turnovers led to some easy scores for both opponents and resulted in scores that looked worse than they really were. North Texas, on the other hand, hasn?t been competitive at all. Against Tulsa they were out-gained by 277 yards and by an incredible 497 yards by Kansas State. Both games were basically over at the half and North Texas couldn?t even score in garbage time against the back ups. Think their offense is struggling? You better believe they are! All good things come to an end ....THE STREAK ENDS TONIGHT :)

North Tejas is currently riding a 26-game winning streak against conference foes and THIS is the ONLY reason why they are the faves tonight!! However, we are going against this streak, and all trends, and take the team that we feel is the better all-around team at this point!! Both teams have stepped up in competition to start the season but one has had far more success than the other!! Anyone want to guess what the number 290 represents??? It?s the TOTAL number of yards that North Texas gained in their last two games against Tulsa and Kansas State!! That?s an average of 145 yards per game!! Even worse!! NT rushed the ball for a total of 62 times in those games and only gained 157 total yards; that?s 2.53 yards per carry!! It gets better!! Their passing game was virtually non-existent!! We hear all of this talk about how powerful their ground game is and yet they could only muster up 70 yards on 36 carries against a Tulsa defense that gives up an average of 225 yards per game on the ground and ranks as one of the nation?s worst at stopping it!! That?s 1.94 yards per carry against a horrible run defense!! So how powerful is their ground game??? NOT VERY!! The bottom line is that both teams have faced tougher competition every week and Troy is actually getting better while NT is getting worse!! No team in college football history has ever had 2 national rushing champs in the same backfield until now.
