I'm going with the UNDER.... see GAME I UMP thread. BUT, there are a couple of concerns I have regarding this game tonite. I'm leaning to playing BOS and UNDER, but the two concerns I have is:
1) Will YANKS rally around RIVERA and pound the SOX to welcome him back and show their appreciation / condolences???
I think when Mariano arrives, the YANKS will give him condolences, then get really focused on the job at hand. This is a big concern for me, because of the history between these teams, I feel NYY might step up tonite and win for RIVERA. Obviously, he probably can't pitch, not sure, but if they have a big enough lead, they won't need him. Add Schilling's comments and you have alot of fuel to fire up! NOT that the YANKS need any motivation vs the RED SOX, but any little bit helps.
On paper, RED SOX are far superior.... it's the intangibles that have me worried....
2) Will SCHILLIING's public comments about "nothing like having 55,000 screaming fans and shutting them up." come back to bite him in the ass???
I understand CURT is one helluva a pitcher and he probably thrives on pressure, but come on, you don't need to be going public about shutting up the YANKS and their fans. There's enough pressure pitching in YANKEE STADIUM in GAME ONE especially when you're wearing the RED SOX jersey, losers for the past 100 years.
