The Marlins are a team that has risen to the top of the NL East, and the Mets went into South Beach and stole some much-needed, confidence-building wins. And before they head out West for some Interleague clashes, the Mets can receive a boost with key wins in series' with Arizona, San Francisco and L.A.
And in case you hadn't noticed, only the Padres (16-4) and Braves (17-7) home-winning percentages are higher than Willie Randolph's bunch (16-9). And I will tell you this much right now, as long as San Diego's starting rotation maintains the level of consistency it's had lately - we're talking about an ERA of 1.67 over the last five games - the Mets will follow with their own degree of consistency.
Tonight we get Kris Benson, and on his home mound this season he's produced a 2-0 record and a 1.96 ERA over three starts.
