From various 'Bama blogs...

Jacobs Award-winning left tackle Andre Smith will miss "a few days" of practice and may not be available Saturday against Tulane after suffering a sprained right knee against Clemson.

"I don't know if he'll play in this game or not," Saban said. "It's still up in the air."

Smith is obviously a big key to Alabama's offense, though the Crimson Tide's offensive line didn't miss a beat when Smith went down in the third quarter. Mike Johnson moved from left guard to left tackle with David Ross filling in at Johnson's guard spot. The same allignment will be used this week if Smith can't go.

Tulane Coach Bob Toledo has no grand expectations for his team against Alabama other than to stay focused, give a good effort and learn from the experience. As of early this afternoon, he hadn't been able to watch practice video from Friday. There are no secretaries to type up game plans.

"We're a little behind," Toledo said. "I feel for these young men. They've got families back home and they're trying to call them and see where they're at. It's hard to focus. There's a huge distraction right now, and rightfully so.

Last Friday, a day before busing to Birmingham, Tulane's equipment manager laid out the team's new jogging suits on the equipment room floor. A water main broke at the baseball stadium and flooded the equipment room with four inches of water. So excuse Tulane's players when they enter the Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday wearing jogging pants with collared shirts.

"The storm hadn't hit yet and we had a problem," Toledo said, laughing. "Our equipment guys were already scrambling. Poor guys. For that to happen was almost comical." :scared
