staying on grace bay first week in november. welcome any info - especially recommendations on restaurants, things to do, day trips, jeep rentals, anything.

will do my fair share of laying on the beach and snorkeling, but i get antsy as sh*t, and we will have a jeep to explore all week.

thanks in advance.

i am going in mid-dec for 4 nights

grace bay is still one of the nicest beaches in the world.

go to coyoba and anacona for dinner one night for great meal.

thur night go to smokey's on the beach...
smokey is a rasta who has a "grill" on a stretch of sand and serves
fresh conch along with other seafood...probably the only place
you will be with locals while dining...in blue hills which doesnt have
much tourist stuff going on but is easy by car or cab.

if you want to do diving or sea kayaking, etc, check out big blue...
a friend of mine started this place and employs the best folk on
the island allowing you into places that you normally wouldnt see.
www.bigblue.tc

the unique thing about provodenciales is that the entire island is surrounded
by a reef which makes the water around the island (out to the reef) this amazing
color of blue and possible to see to the bottom...
the after the reef drops off into a deep blue...

if you can, rent a boat one day that will come and pick you up on your beach...
this allows you to see the true beauty of the turks from the water...
if possible, there is a guy named delroy who works with big blue and catch
the wave...very cool and very knowledgable about how to find what on the island.

here is a good link on turks - www.wherewhenhow.com

again, coyoba and anacona search an unforgettable dining experience...
many other places will be similar price but crap food.

Thompson Cove is down the road from the reastaurants and night life of Provo (they are all on Grace Bay and turtle Cove with turtle cove being the closest to where you will be staying)

Book early for the chicken and ribs night at the tiki hut- best deal in the Caribbean , Aqua has the best conch sashimi out there, If your diving try to hhit up french cay as much as possible (less folks go so there are bigger fish!)

i was there exactly 1 year ago during hurricane season, not even a drop of rain for us...grace bay is awesome....

i stayed at the royal west indies and was very satisfied, not many people around which was great but it is low season now.

to go around taxis are hard to get this time of year so better make a bus pass "gecko" i believe its called and it works like a taxi...

restaurant wise, anaconda heard good things but it was closed this time of year but our hotel restaurant was great...magnolia it was called but maybe something else but they all have really fresh fish of course; prices are caribbean so above US but not so much more...

long overdue for a "thank you" to both of you. had a great time in provo.

wareagle, i believe you leave next week. i did drive past your place that you are staying. didn't know it at the time, but it was definitely the place in your link. out towards turtle cove, sits right on a point. must be brand new, dirt road back to it. looks like a beautiful place.

both of you had great info, Wareagle since you are going back, thought i'd offer up what i can.

first night ate at anacaonda(sp.) it was right beside our place (Ocean Club West). very, very nice, but thought some of our other meals were slightly better. (trust me, all food was outstanding.)

also, did eat at coyoba one night. in case you don't know they have moved. they are now around the corner from OCW, on the same access road, but stands alone. also a great meal.

most expensive dinner, but unbelievable, was parallel 23 at the palms. would probably recommend that over anacaonda.

nice surprise was the meal we had at mango reef resort (where italianguy stayed). we walked to it one night, and it was probably the best meal and appetizer all week. their lobster ravioli (entree) and thai tuna salad (app.) was worth going back for, which we did.

bay bistro was also very good - in a neat old little resort - restaurant was great.

tiki hut, over rated in my opinion. food and service sucked.

da conch shack in blue hills - amazing. mouth is watering thinking about it. conch right out of the ocean and prepared for you. conch salad was the best we had, and the conch curry was also awesome. went there twice for lunch.

checked into smokey's for thursday night, but the girl at da conch shack said he does that on wednesdays? so we missed it. you might want to doublecheck if you plan on going.

aside from alot of eating, mostly R & R for us. misses is pregnant - so i had to drink for her:)

did have a car for the week - a piece of sh*t nissan sunny - wheel on the right. 45$/day - did the job. snorkled alot - about every other day. we couldn't dive because she's pregnant.

there is a cool beach on the south side - past "five cays" called sunset beach on some of the maps. forget the other name that some maps call it. had the beach to ourselves. you can walk out into the water about 400 yards and it's only knee deep. off to the left around the corner, a nice reef for snorkling. again, we were all alone. got myself some lovin on the beach at 2 in the afternoon ;)

my cell phone - verizon - didn't work, apparently cingular and att are what does work. jut made calls from hotel at 2 bucks/minute.

also did go 3-0 in college on saturday and 3-0 in pro's on sunday. (a quick study both mornings online, with a little help from MJ's (sorry forget who), and some quick capping myself did the job) helped put a dent into the trip, albeit a small one.

let me know if there's anything else you may want to know.

if either of you have been to atlantis in the bahamas, i'm going there the 10th to the 15th of dec. all info welcome :)

thanks again for YOUR info. very helpful.
