i don't see nypd blue or married with children on this list....these shows have been on or were on tv for over 10 years....

why is the david letterman show listed at #7 while johnny carson is listed at #12 ?

that is simply wrong !

i don't know if anybody has seen the tape or dvd of your show of shows......but it should be alot higher than #30...it was one of the funniest shows ever on tv.....highly recommended.

what is 30something doing at #19....very boring show.

The LarrySanders Show ? The Larry Sanders show ??? C'mon.
Thirtysomething ? At # 19, no less. Another C'mon. Just those two inclusions would cause me to doubt the creedence or validity of this. Who voted, the sponsors ?
Personally, I would have liked to see "Soap" in there........not only was it irreverent and hilarious, but it broke alot of barriers and opened alot of roads for today's comedians. And then maybe Sanford & Son. Perhaps "Mission Impossible". 'Ed Sullivan" should also be there. I agree with Countinguy on "Married w/Children.
Some on there that I don't give a rat's ass about, like "Oprah" & "Twin Peaks", but I can see why they are there.
And finally, what/who is "American Family" & "Your Show of Shows" ?.

Sopranos way too high at #5. Also would rate All in the Family over Seinfeld.

Using only the 50 shows given, my top 5 would include: Bob Newhart, Twilight Zone, St. Elsewhere, Dick Van Dyke, and Johnny Carson........ Top ten includes Soprano's, Andy Griffith (B&W only), Larry Sanders, Honeymooners, and early David Letterman.

I also want to echo hitman for wondering why the heck Soap was left off; it would def. be top ten for me.

How about everyone elses top choices?????

Yeh, Taximike......... I forgot about "Twilight Zone". "Soap" would be top 10 for me, too. Even if one didn't like it, how could you leave it off? Also "The Untouchables", very popular on Friday nights in it's time. Now, if you include "Rocky & Friends", let's not forget "Howdy Doody". Every kid in America watched that.
Then there's "American Bandstand" which every teen who was cool , watched faithfully. We didn't get that network (ABC) at my house for awhile, but every weekday after school a bunch of us would gather at a friend's house(they had an antenna) to see it. Some got it for 30 minutes at 4:30 and some for the full hour at 4:00.

How about:

Gilligan's Island
Full House
Columbo
Three's Company
Sanford & Son
Captain Kangaroo

A lot on that list that don't deserve it. How is The Spoprano's there. Damn things on pay TV. I personally was never been able to watch a complete show.

I certainly wouldn't have argued if "Married" was included. Top 100 probably would have included "Bonanza" "Dragnet" and maybe it doesn't qualify as a series, per se, but our own sports thing, "ABC's Wide World of Sports" was on for a long, long time on Sat. afternoons. "Happy Days" probably deserved it, close to an American institution for that era.

Married With Children deserves mention simply for how influential it was. It pretty much set things up for the last decade+ of sitcom humor.

I would have put All In the Family #1. Absolutely brilliant and ground breaking. Still holds up 30 years later too.

Echo the Sopranos sentiment. Not really fair to put a cable show on there anyway - they don't have the same rules as everybody else. If their gonna include HBO, I'd like to see the underrated and quickly forgotten Mr. Show w/ Bob and David (but I know it would never make a mainstream list).

Gotta think Married should'a been there. Some of those on the list I never even heard of:

Your Show of Shows,The Defenders, American Family, Playhouse 90??

And yeah, where are Happy Days, Barney Miller, Gilligan and Sanford? And what was the name of the show where the doctor Joel had to go to practice in Alaska to pay back his student loan? Great show but I forgot its name.

[Was it "Northern Exposure"?]

Where in the Hell is Hawaii Five O?
I think Steve Harvey was pretty good while it ran.....227 was OK...Simpsons should be higher, i mean it is the longest running ever..
