MINNESOTA TWINS +160 (Friday) - While I feel that Washburn is still one of the more underrated pitchers in baseball, I simply can not pass up the pesky Twins at this fat price. Minnesota has already shown their mettle on the road in these playoffs, winning 2 games in Oakland including the deciding game of the ALDS. Eric Milton tossed a beauty in his only playoff start, limiting the A?s to just 2 earned runs and 6 hits in 7 innings. Milton may be peaking at the perfect time, as he now has a 1.45 ERA and a sparkling 0.96 WHIP in his last 3 starts, covering 18.2 innings, and he has allowed 3 earned runs or less in 9 of his last 10 outings. He has also recorded 4 Quality Starts in his last 5 starts against the Angels, and the last time he pitched in Anaheim, he allowed just 1 earned run in 6 innings in a 5-2 Twins victory back in May. Now I really have nothing bad to say about Washburn, who is 19-6 with a 3.18 ERA on the year counting playoffs. However, his recent overall numbers are not significantly better enough than Milton?s in here to justify the Angels being such lofty favorites. Therefore, I will go for the value play at what I feel is a very inflated price.
