I'd like to get an opinion on what you guys think the mindset of the Minnesota Twins is. They have been dreadful since the break (something like 9-23), blew a 5 game lead and are currently 2 1/2 back, lost a huge game with their ace on the hill--while blowing a 3 run lead with 2 out in the 9th!

Can they recover???

These next couple games are must win for them(or at least must split these 2). Do you think they are going to come back firing...or lay down and go quietly?

Kelly is an outstanding manager, but you have to have the horses (in a proper frame of mind) to get to the promised land!

On the course!
I think they are "coming into their own". They over achieved all season, and honestly, I am surprised they lasted this long! I actually have a play on them tonight, as Finley keeps getting far more respect than he deserves.

Watch for the Cubs to follow suit real soon!

YYZ-

I agree with you....they have played WAY over their heads this year. As for tonight, I also agree that Finley has been over rated by the books...but by the same token, the Tribe punished Mays the last time around and generally have much better success against right handers.

Also--I haven't heard the report on Chad Allen today (carted off on a stretcher last night), so an injury to him could be further demoralizing as the Twinkie bench is not the deepest around.

Like you said, I too wouldn't be surprised to see the Cubbies tailing off either. Ultimately, I think the Astros will win the division, ST LOUIS to finish second, and the Cubs to end up in third. Just my opinion...

With Allen going down, I think the Twins finish below .500 or at most 2 games over this year considering how many times they have to still play CLE (8) and ANA (6). Also have to play TEX a few times who can outscore them.

Don't count the Cubs out yet- I think it will be them or Stl- I know Houston can hit, but pitching wins in the long run- Cubs have pitching, and they are finally getting healthy- Mueller back in the lineup- R. White coming back shortly-

I heard an interview Tom Kelly did on a Cleveland radio station before yesterday's game. He was anything but pumped up for this series and what seemed like the rest of season.

It came across as these guys are young and have basically played over their heads to this point. No one, not even I, expected us to have been in it this long. He also stated and I quote (at least closely), "we stink right now, we are just horrible." This may have had a bit of sarcasm in it, but it was tough to tell.
