45 will be it

Eddie Guardado earned his AL-leading 45th save Saturday. As much as the Twins would like to see him extend his team record, he won't be used today -- even in a save situation -- so he's rested for the playoffs, according to pitching coach Rick Anderson.

Guardado's 45 saves are tied for the third most by a lefthander in history. Randy Myers had 45 for the Orioles in '97.

Decision due

The Twins are expected to finalize their playoff roster today, which will mean leaving a valued reliever off the roster.

The team is expected to leave off a righthanded reliever, believed to be either Tony Fiore or Bob Wells. Fiore has won 10 games and has an ERA of 2.58 over his past 24 appearances. Wells has a 4.71 ERA since being activated from the disabled list in late July.
