TWINS/TIGERS Under 9 +100 ? These clubs went easily Under in last night?s 5-1 Twins victory, improving the record for the Under to 6-2 in the last 8 head-to-head meetings. I normally would shy away from an Under with a pitcher making his first start after an injury, but Mays has owned the Tigers over the last 3 years, going 7-3 in 11 starts against them with a tremendous 1.72 ERA. This marks Mays?s lowest ERA vs. any other team during this 3-year span. Mays seemed unaffected by his injury in a rehab start this past Monday for New Britain, allowing only 2 hits in 7 innings. This looks like a soft spot for his return, as the Tigers are averaging just 3.1 runs per game in their last 10 games. Also, Mays is backed by what has been one of the best bullpens in the AL, which should come in handy given that he will probably be on a strict pitch count. Bernero has had 4 shaky starts after beginning this season with 5 Quality Starts in his first 6 starts. However, he has loads of potential, as he has 4 pitches that he could throw for strikes, and he has already shut down some pretty good offenses this season (see Atlanta and Arizona). Also, 3 of his 4 poor recent outings have been on the road. I would not be surprised to see him turn in one of his better efforts here at spacious Comerica Park.
