Mathieu and Reid gonna be stacking some D2 school's defensive backfield

Alabama state already took Crowell, might as well take these two as well.

Glad Miles reinforced the idea that substance abuse is a permanent team ban when TM tried to claim to ESPN today that he was just going to sit out a year and get clean and come back next year. Reality must have set in

I would be surprised if he re-surfaces in the Ncaa, I am thinking he would just go pro next year.

First positive test results in counseling and warning. A second positive results in up to 1 game suspension, counseling and random tests going forward. A third positive test results in up to a one year suspension. This is likely where the rumor of a 4th positive test originated, as a 4th positive test results in dismissal from program.

Wish there were uniformed punishments. I understand UGA trying to do "right", but it really hurts them on the field as well as their image when the first offense is a game suspension(player and institution criticized when it wouldn't be known at other schools) and then 2nd offense is 4 games:facepalm: I read something a while back talking about this very thing and the whole point was that there was really no reason to try to do right in college athletics and they used uga and several others as prime examples. I do applaud miles for seeing the bigger picture though and is the biggest reason I stand beside Richt.

Does he need one more year of college before going pro or has he met draft requirements?

if so there's no reason for him to play anymore in CFB.

He is eligible for the next draft, as this coming year will be his 3rd out of HS. He played as a true frosh.

I've never known anyone to enter rehab for marijuana. He must be into something else.

Looks like he will play ball for lsu in 2013 if he can kick his habit. He averaged 8 pbu per season, but at 5'7 with a mind of his own out there, he isn't a true cover corner. I hve never seen a player leave his feet to deflect more passes than mathieu. Not sure if it is his athleticism making up for flawed coverage technique, but it sure is fun to watch. Lsu used him as a third corner. Most fans were unaware of this, but coaches knew. That's why bama set him up vs that big WR in the title game. That guy beat mathieu for 3 catches. It was another of the game plan edges that Saban created in that game. One of the best coaching performances I've witnessed.

Anyway, mathieu plays free safety with spectacular results. He is a unique player. Unbelievable ball skills, and hand eye coordination, relentless motor, not ultra-fast top end, but sick 10 and 20 yard splits. Outstanding in run support, and averages 8 tfl per season. NCAA career leader in forced fumbles per game at an alarmingly high .42. Recovered 8 fumbles in 2 seasons, including several fumbles that he created. No doubt in my mind there is a spot for him in the NFL.

Hope he gets it together. Most of us have no clue what it is like to be shuffled around as a kid because your mother is an addict and your father is in jail for murder. I'm not typically a fan of players, but I love watching mathieu play football.
