Tyrone Nix, South Carolina Defensive Coordinator, has been offered the Head Coaching job at Southern Miss.....

Too bad his defense couldn't stop anybody the last 5 games of the season, including against my Tigers!!!

Nix was a standout LB at USM.....as he progressed through the coaching ranks, it stood to reason he would be given strong consideration here when the time came......but, yeah, that D collapsed...they had a lot of raw, young talent on the D when season started.....but a lot of injuries took a toll as the year went on, and I dont think South Carolina has the depth to overcome that......I think he'll do well at USM.

Tyrone Nix - Second Update (Thur. 11/29 @ 3:25 PM)

After I read WIS-TV's report that Nix had been offered the HC position at Southern Miss, I immediately called a couple of people with close connections to the USM FB program and ath. dept. When I told one of them what WIS-TV was reporting, he laughed. Both sources expressly DENIED Nix has been offered the job. In fact, I was told, three other coaches in addition to Nix are set to interview with USM. Nix will interview Friday morning. That's pretty firm. One of the other coaches who's supposed to interview Friday is Auburn DC Will Muschamp. FSU OC Jimbo Fisher may interview later as well.

The threadstarter has no clue. He wasn't offered the job, and yes, along with the pathetic Gamecox, his defense was awful, but Clemson only scored one touchdown against it. Real teams were hanging 50+ on them, SEC teams, that is. That's why LSU will vault BC because the ACC is not any good.

Clemson would have been sitting home if they played in the SECzzzzz. :nono:
