Michigan will not have its most productive running back, Carlos Brown, Saturday night at 12th-ranked Iowa.
Brown, according to sources close to the U-M football program, suffered a concussion during a contact drill Tuesday in practice and was not cleared to play by team doctors.
He did not practice Wednesday and did not travel to Iowa City with the team.
Through five games, Brown has rushed for 336 yards on 44 carries and has scored three touchdowns. He leads the team in rushing, averaging 67.2 yards.
With Brown unable to play, senior tailback Brandon Minor is expected to get the bulk of carries. Minor, the Wolverines' most physical back, has been slowed this season by a high ankle sprain. But he is the healthiest he has been since training camp, Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez said earlier this week. Minor has 35 carries for 179 yards and two touchdowns.
Sophomore Michael Shaw, who has 18 carries for 92 yards, also should have a significant role against the Hawkeyes .
