than those same drugs cost in Canada. Why? Because the national health care in Canada negotiates drug prices, and the neocons here pushed through a bill which FORBIDS Medicare from negotiating drug prices. Get that? Medicare is forbidden, by law, from negotiating lower drug prices.

Goddamned bribe-taking politicians. In what other job can you take bribes to the detriment of your employer? They should all be burned at the stake.

The excessive cost of health care in the USA is all based on the BIG LIE. Goebbels would be proud of his disciples Boehner, McConnell and Maggot.

......................................................................

I had never heard that one.

what law is that and who chaired it and passed it ?

And then they cry because Medicare is so expensive and giving away bennies to poor unfortunates.

And, Canadians pay far less for their drugs. Drugs manufactured in New Jersey cost far more in the USA than those same drugs cost in Canada. Why? Because the national health care in Canada negotiates drug prices, and the neocons here pushed through a bill which FORBIDS Medicare from negotiating drug prices. Get that? Medicare is forbidden, by law, from negotiating lower drug prices.
And therein lies the power of single-payer. You can cap costs on ANYTHING because you represent every man, woman and child in the U.S.

EVERY other industrialized nation on the planet knows this. We know this. Yet, Republicans, Blue Dog Democrats and the lemmings that lap up their bullshit scream "SOCIALISM!!!", then tell us to bend over and take it up the ass from Big Insurance, Big Pharma and Big Healthcare.

Here, read for yourself who blocked the bill -

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/18/washington/18cnd-medicare.html

And who was at the forefront blocking this bill? None other than that slimy turd Chuck Grassley.

And who paid off Grassley? It's all right here -

Duff i loved it when Bush told us he just wanted to keep us safe just like he did on 9-11 and that is why we couldn't go to Canada tobuyt our drugs, you know, those drugs which are made in the USA and shipped to Canada where they are sold for less Then when the Anthrax problem came about there wasn't enuf Cipro to go around and sure enuf Bush went to Canada to get us more. If that alone doesn't make u think how bad and corrupt these assholes on the right are nothing will. Everyone can negotiate but we can't. You got to love it.

Actually, if you remember during the healthcare debate, there was an amendment offered to allow reimportation of prescription drugs - which would allow the US to get them at a much lower price.

It was offered by a Republican and had a small bit of bi-partisan support.

It was defeated by order of Obama, as he had already worked out his secret deal with Big Pharma to protect them, and that was part of the deal - that this amendment not be allowed through. For that, Big Pharma came out of the healthcare bill unscathed, and promised $100M or something like that in ads supporting the law for Obama.

Obama cared about creating a new entitlement. He never had an interest in trying to reduce costs. It's all about building a bigger dependency class and voting block.

Politics, whether Republican or Democrat, is about power and money. That is all - none of them give a crap about the people - just their power and money.

This has been fact in this country for my entire life.

Its really sad when there is nothing we can do or no one we can elect that can change it.

This attitude is engrained in our political system so deep and complicated that it will continue for another 100 years.

its nothing but a huge game of oneupmanship to them.

The hypocrisy of our American politicians is bigger than the entire universe.

It makes me think why more ppl in the world dont report on us having this kind of system where crooks make out like thieves. But then again maybe thats why so many countrys hate us.

We preach about being the most noble honest country in the world. And our own goverment time and time again goes against the wishs of the American ppl.

You are absolutely amazing, Maggot. No matter how dumb you seem, you can always come up with something even more stupid.

The only reason anyone wants to import drugs from Canada is to take advantage of the lower prices which Canadian health care negotiates.

Republicans defeated the bill which would allow Medicare to negotiate lower prices. Republicans, get it? Republicans.

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/18/washington/18cnd-medicare.html

And why did Republicans vote to defeat a bill which would save us all money on drugs?

Because they were bought by the pharmaceutical companies. These whores will get on their knees for anybody who will pay them.

Hear that big sucking sound? It's Chuck Grassley, doing what he does best.

And you are even dumber for not noticing that your socialist friends, led by Obama, made side deals with Pharma to keep prices high and kill the bill to cheapen drugs.

What good is healthcare reform to increase access to a product that you keep saying is too expensive???

Maybe cutting costs FIRST, then adding access, would have made more sense - especially when our country can't afford it now.

Instead, let us increase the costs to the country - BRILLIANT. Obama sure is a sharp one, isn't he???

Your dems would not allow cheaper drug prices - even though there was bipartisan support for this. Why? Obama was getting too much under the table from Big Pharma.

Surprised? Of course not. That is how all politicians work. You think Dems are for the "working man"? Are you ignoring the fact that they are for themselves? Power and money, that is all it is about, baby.

Once again revealing the power of single-payer. Canada has 1/10th the population of the U.S. yet the Canadian government has the power to do something the U.S. goverment does not. A sad comment on both our political and healthcare systems.

From the above article...

U.S. patients pay far more than the rest of the world for prescription drugs. The Canadian government keeps prices down by using its purchasing power to negotiate for lower rates.

The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the bill would result in $50 billion in direct savings over the next decade, with $10.6 billion of that being savings to the federal government.

Trench:

I agree. But I wouldn't stop there if we are heading the socialism route.

Food and Fuel costs are the 2 biggest expenses for families. Since we are heading down that path, we should shut down every grocery store and convenience store, and have the government run them. We could force better food choices, and have MUCH lower costs.

Same with gas for autos and heating oil. Nationalize this program and people could save a ton, due to our purchasing power.

Then do healthcare.

Then autos, education, etc by government fiat, with the emphasis on controlling costs - which of course, means no more labor unions, as we know they articially inflate the costs.

I like the way you are thinking. Nationalize all products and services! We could be just like Cuba!

Dumber and dumber, and dumber still. Way to go Maggot.

What Trench is talking about is giving Medicare the ability to negotiate prices, just like any purchaser of anything has the right to negotiate.

That's Capitalism. And you think it's Socialism.

Don't you ever get tired of embarrassing yourself?

Sponge and Duff -
Great Canadian healthcare?

My mother in law died of pancreatic cancer in Canada while waiting for her FIRST visit to an oncologist. He missed their first scheduled appt and she could not see him for another 6 months and before they met, she passed away.

Great FUCKING system up there.

Sorry to hear about you MIL, but I don't exactly understand what you said. She never saw an oncologist? How was her pancreatic cancer diagnosed? Was she treated by another MD?

Median survival for pancreatic cancer is less than 6 months with the best treatments presently available.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the worst.

Is your opinion based on faith, or a BIG LIE, or facts? If fact based, what facts?

Even if rich Saudis do sometimes use US health care like the CC, so what? That says nothing about the health care available to most Americans.

Here's an interesting article for you -

There are a lot of Canadians on this site. Let me see if u can find one who would like to trade systems with us. For shits and giggles go try to get an appointment with and Endocrinologist and let me know how fast u get it. Im willing to bet about three months at least. There are waiting lines here just like there are there, except everyone is insured there.
