UCF Knight?s star player B.J. Taylor has a hand injury and will be out of action for a little while.

The Knights already have a short rotation as it is, just recently got back AJ Davis from ironically a hand injury himself and now lose one of their best players on the team and seemingly are on the short end of luck when it comes to injuries.

?I?m wondering what we?ve done wrong.? Coach Dawkins jokes, ?But you know, those things happen in this game and unfortunately I hate it for the young people because this is there moment. This is college, this is a great time in their lives, playing in front of a great community and they want to be out there but this is what life wants to throw at you and it?s how you handle adversity.?

The Knights have to figure out how they are going to run their offense as Taylor is their leading scorer as well as leading the team in the assist department. Davis was asked if he might step into that role and he had this to say.

?We?re all going to take care of the ball together. I?ll be handling the ball a little bit but that will be a team assignment.?

Davis also talked about how big of the part of the team Taylor is, ?BJ is a big part of our team, great leader for us, great ball handler for us, and he controls a lot of things for us but we just got step up and do what we got to do to win games.?

Dawkins also added about how the team will handle the ball as a committee, ?We?re going to do it by committee. There?s not one person that?s going to fill the void for losing B.J. but what we want to do is have our guys on the perimeter and all of them to take some responsibility, take some ownership, make sure we value possessions and value the basketball.?

Keeping that in mind, the Knights are now preparing for the next couple of games as they have games on Saturday and Monday coming which is not only a quick turnaround but now having to do that without Taylor will definitely become more challenging.

?It?s pretty difficult, but this is where Coach is saying we have treat our bodies like professional athletes.? Says Nick Banyard. ?Sleep is the most important, hydration is the most important and eating right. So we?re definitely taking care of that and the rest will handle itself.?
