Ive made some bets, but havent posted all of them in case something at the weigh-ins or some late news changes my mind.

I put some money down on Hughes last week. I haven't done anything else yet but I'll probably make 1or 2 more plays.

Well, here is what I have:

No big bets, nothing like Swick advantage on the card (some numbers will vary a little from the board now, because I bet them earlier, but didnt want to post since I usually rethink at least one bet after weigh-ins)

Couture -225 to win 1unit

Hughes -180 to win 1unit

Salaverry +135 bet 1 unit

St. Pierre -155 to win 1 unit

Van Arsdale +147 bet 1 unit

Travis Wuiff +110 bet 1 unit

The two bets that were tough to make are on Van Arsdale, who is giving up a good amount of weight and Wiuff (pronounced View, drives me nuts) who is giving up a ton of quality MMA experience and possibly heart.

With Van Arsdale, Im taking the quicker, more athletic guy who has a wrestling advantage, but giving up so much weight is tough.

With Wiuff, Im hoping by fight time he weighs about 10 pounds more than Babalu and proves to have a wrestling advantage to. Almost everyone I know is picking Sobral, and with that performance were he won the 3 man tournament, I cant blame them. More of a contrarian pick, hoping for that takedown, strength advantage to become a decision win.

Line is plumitting on Hughes fight...down to Hughes -139 at Pinnacle. Odessa says everyone is betting Trigg on his site. Trigg did look in insane shape at the weigh in. Still like Hughes and will take my chances, but I could have got a much better number if I waited. May put another unit or two on Hughes if the line goes lower

One of the interesting comments was made by Mayhem, who has a ton of them. He said St. Pierre fights like a robot. When I thought about it for a second, its true. He is real mechanical in his techniques.

"the bunker"
took small shots with sobral-115.....trigg+160....and a little larger play on st pierre at -145....i like st pierre`s style...he`s pretty well rounded...and his cardio seems very good...he`s a buzz saw...he was a little intimidated by hughes and stated as much...

i put my reasons for sobral in skill`s other thread..his competiton level is beyond reproach.....wiuff took off alot of weight...he`ll still be much bigger by fight time..will the weight loss affect him?...we`ll see...i read on one site some people intimated that wiuff may have been on "the juice"...that`s what i read...no proof was provided...just an allegation...the fact that skill likes wiuff makes me glad i wagered small...

i just flat out like trigg`s style,too...he`s got a fighter`s mentality and an attacking style...i suspect he`ll fight a little smarter this time...although,it`s never usually smart to bet against the 1st fight winner unless you have some sort of an edge in the second fight(venue or some other extenuating circumstance)....1st fight winners usually win the second fight...usually...

i don`t play this mma stuff like i would boxing..something i know pretty well.....i play small for the enjoyment....and sometimes just bet guys that i like to watch....

would love to play chuck liddell...but i think this is a bad style match-up for him...he has a puncher`s chance.....that`s it...randy does to many things better than liddell...

of course,in boxing,a guy can get old overnight....couture is 41 yrs old...and he looked like the olsen twin with the eating disorder at the weigh-in...he looked like an ethopian marathoner... must have been hell for him to make the weight...

i`m very much enthused about watching this card...and next week`s pride is a monster card loaded with even match-ups....

i noticed,though,that it conflicts with espn`s big 4 bout boxing ppv card(both saturday at 10 p.m).....

i`ll be curious to see how the ppv outlets handle this.....

g.l.,all...

Trigg looks insane

Randy looks great

Wiuff looks exactly like I expected, better than Babalu of course. Unfortunately for me, its not a bodybuilding contest and they still have to fight.

I forgot I also have Lindland -190

Not real happy with the number and it will be painful to watch, because if the fight lasts, its going to be touch and go for Matt getting submitted. People that have trained with him keep talking about how improved his standup is, but I dont want to hear it... stick to bread and butter.

Weasel, I cant really discourage betting Babalu. Sometimes his techniques get a little loose and he brawls, but there are quite a few factors that favor him. When I went over the fight in my head, I came to the possibility of Sobral being held down and frustrated. That thing that happens were the better fighter is out positioned. But this fight might not even get to the ground, because when Babalu is fresh, he wont be an easy takedown even with a great shoot and he has the element of surprise if he threw and then shot. If they trade for awhile, it could get crazy. I just took the underdog.

The thing about the dogs, you know a couple will win. So I make sure to take some, but it can be feast or famine. If my underdogs get stomped, it could be crash and burn time.

I tell ya, I like Hughes even more now. Its not a body building contest as we know, and there is a thing called overtraining. If this gets into the 3rd, or 4th round, I would greatly favor Hughes. How often can you bet Hughes less than -150. Great Value. I like Trigg and all, but Hughes is an all time great. Besides that Penn fight, he has been almost Flawless from what Ive seen. I couldnt bet against him and feel good about it.

I really like St. Pierre, but does anybody have info on this Miller guy? I have never seen him fight.

Going with...

Liddell
Hughes
Salaverry
Doerkson
Sobral (can't see Wiuff having much in the tank if the fight goes past even one round).
St Pierre
Lindland

Gut feeling Chuck takes this one. As good as Randy has been the past two years, he's certainly not invincible and they have reversed roles since their first fight. Totally different mind-set for Chuck in this fight..gut feeling he knocks-out Randy.

Little too much respect going-on for Trigg IMO. Very good fighter, but I don't see him beating Hughes, who I think rejuvenated his career with that win over St Pierre. I think he really comes out focused tonight, which wasn't the case his past three fights.

Doerkson outclasses Cote bigtime. Chalk is high, but not high enough.

Ive decided to stay away from Hughes, as I know im gonna be pulling for Trigg. I just like Triggs style, likes to come forward, and I think he is the hungrier man. Fight is now a no bet for me.
I have heard what some people say about Miller, and Im going with St.Pierre tonight. This kid just seems like a special fighter to me.
