OK, This is my 2 cents for this card.

Penn beats Sherk. People talk about BJ's stamina but he came on strong in round 5 of the second Uno fight. He also had stamina in a hard fight with Gomi. Sherk did not have an easy time when Ryuki Ueyama was throwing subs at him in Pride. I remember reading an article on Sherk talking about his fight with Nick Diaz. He said Nick was doing crazy shit that he had never encountered before. If he thinks Diaz has crazy BJJ then he will be in for a real rude awakening with BJ.

I think Ortiz has a great shot at beating Machida by lay and pray. Tito has good wrestling with ground and pound. Machida does not spend much time on his back so he might end up in foreign territory for this fight.

Sorry Bucks but I think Jardine will beat Silva. I just think Silva has been in too many wars and has not been the same since he took part in the heavyweight grand prix. I think he is going to struggle against the bigger UFC fighters. Maybe he will do a Houstin and catch Jardine quickly in a brawl but I don't think so.

I like Silva, Gouveia, Salaverry and Clementi but I don't know enough about their opponents to comment.

I am waiting on the odds coming out for Nak against Sok. I think Nak will be a heavy underdog. I will be betting on him as I think his Judo might be better than Sok's.

These are my opinions. Blast away.

Good luck.

Bumping this up. What is really strange is why isn't the UFC working around Boxing? You would think they would want to get the maxium pay perview buys they can get but putting UFC83 against Hopkins and Calzaghe was silly in my opinion. Now we have what i feel a big lag in the action, and for what it is worth why is every UFC event named after a movie?

I think they plan their events up against the "big time" boxing match-ups to flex their muscle.

Which event will get more true PPV money that night? Pokin' the bear!

Horrible Raw. I wanted to see that and all i got was

"oops no video"

i dont know whats up w/ that video, sponge... was a good hype vid :( , not like the crap on youtube right now. surprised there r not more promo vids for this bout... UFC could be doing a better job of marketing this event IMO.

some good trash talk on ufc.com if you havent already seen it.

Dawg that would be nuts :mj07: . No way they would want to compete against anything. They wouldn't even want to go up against wrestling. Why would anyone chance losing even one buy? To many boxing purest out there.

I have to say I can't wait for these fights. Anytime Wandy is fighting I'm happy. I'm just worried that the steroids had a lot to do with how great he was and how much fun he was to watch. Hopefully I'm wrong but so far it looks like it to me.

Oh don't worry, I wouldn't bet on Wand if I had to. The Pride guys just haven't shown me enough and he's only had one fight in the UFC. I feel bad for Jardine, in my eyes he should be getting to fight Jackson right now. Why the hell did Forrest get a chance and he didn't? If I'm not mistaken, he knocked the chit out of Gump. I'm not a big Jardine fan but what's fair is fair. If he takes Wandy down then he should be waiting on the doorsteps to fight the Jackson Forrest winner.

If Wandy can find his old style and be aggressive then I think he will win. I just don't know if that Wand exist anymore. Leaving Chute Box might not have been a good idea for him.

Bucs, I hope you're right because I like Wandy a lot and like Dana has said in the past "he's a rockstar." He sells tickets and when he's on his game he's as fun to watch as anyone in mma.

If he loses, I think we can say without a doubt that the purchase of Pride was a bust.

yea, i dont see Jardine as the "gift" many are speaking of.. but thats whats great about this card.. it's sooooo competitive :scared

i should state that Jardine is +130 in my sportsbook... not +145 or +150 like some other popular books. ill be starting new accounts to better shop for MMA lines after UFC 85.

Wanderlei (-160) and Jardine (+130) are my lines at the moment.. i feel this is the correct line so am unwilling to make a play.

Wanderlei is always concerned w/ "putting on a good show," but what the guy really needs is a WIN. a crucial fight for him in my mind, but Jardine is an awkward fighter who is in line for a title shot so this ones makes for a very interesting fight.
