Where is your's?

I'm planning a vacation to take the daughter somewhere new and prefer somewhere unique and exotic so she can start to become exposed to more then western PA and Virginia beach...Virginia Beach is where the family heads annually during July or august, but besides the sand/saltwater, it's not drastically different then many of the local public lakes....virginia beach has similar infastructure to Pittsburgh or Columbus which she has seen....it only offers her limited variety.....there are similar dempgraphics, similar quisine, and similar wildlife ...again except the ocean/bays part, not much is different.... and I hate sharks and snakes anyways.

She loves the water however, so a beach destination is still ok, but prefer somewhere tropical and white sand....doesnt have to be a beach however....as long as it is a place where diversity is magnified and culture is exciting....I just want her to see how big the world is and how amazing it can be...I also want her learning how certain regions are far less fortunate and have much less in regards to economical oppurtunities or even homes and toys....just so she is learning about new life...she is only 6, but these are crucial years....I never got to see much growing up....I had one vacation to Albuquerque, and that was with distant family that makes the Kardashians seem sane.....I don't want to come off as dramatic or irrational, but I hate how kids are raised anymore and I refuse to have my daughter thinking life outside a television screen or PC is non existent....she can be so much better then me (not saying much).......she has it in her.....I was petrified to leave home for a long time...I want her to be exposed to things I never was, so when the time to jump creeps up on her, she won't be terrified like I was....her mother and my ex wife is becoming a ass....or becoming more of a a ass I should say....and she is more worried about herself, so I really feel like it's up to me to educate her....although it will probably be more of a culture shock to me as I am not well traveled and will comprehend the cultural differences much easier....

Anyways, back to the destination....if anyone has personal experiences and places they have been and enjoyed , I'd love to know....if you are willing to share.....

Six fives trip to a different country really is what motivated a lot of this....I forget the exact locale but will never forget the images and daily text entries describing his experiences that he posted here I thought it was bad ass that he sacrificed his time and energy to help, and hope to instill that same drive and sense of obligation to the rug rat....says a lot about six five that he contributed and I want her to be looked at the same..

Anyways I suppose I could've just asked for ideas and saved time but onwards I go and xontinue to type-

the destination can really be in any region.
Just want it to have some or most of the following reputations:

-kid friendly
-reasonably affordable
-safe
- unique in itself
- hotels with A/C- that's all for me lol
- all inclusive type trip would be much easier for a 30 yr old single dad
-variety--- I have probably 4-12 adult family members also considering a new location this year and joining us.....and their immediate families as well...we usually have 25-30 at our beach house, so could have a lot of people with different interests
- easy and accessible transportation - public or private

T.I.A if anyone has time to respond....I've Google options but everywhere I look has the same...good reviews and bad reviews....I trust the MJ community far more then the general public on random sites.

Fuck I typed a lot and all I intended was to ask a simple question....thanks again for any ideas.

They (siblings/grandparents) all want to book trips now but I told them I needed more research first....I want the best option because she may not get a Vaca outside of VA Beach again for a while...

Are you talking inside the USA or outside the USA?

If you are considering outside the USA........

New Zealand and Australia are a must see, also the island of Myconos in Greece is great. Since you are travelling with a 6 year old I'd go with Australia, so much you can do there and tons of stuff for little kids. You can travel through the Outback and also hit the beaches. Depending how much time you have you can go to New Zealand as well.

Also worth mentioning the country of Malta, throw that one on the list as well.

Out of country or in....OK with either....Australia is actually where my dad wants to go. Awesome idea

And I've been to a dude ranch in Michigan. I was young. I just remember not being able to water ski and the one female employee with jugs the size of 'the boys' figurative head....at 12 years old i knew what love was....or at least a chubb...but as far as fun yea it was a good time....and probably most cost efficient

Although I don't know I'd I'd trust her horseback riding at age 6....my secretary has a 5 year old granddaughter who drives a 50 CC ATV all by herself and I've thought how awful my daughter would be at that....she's not coordinated like that yet.....while I had a nice run athletically playing fb, I really just ran into people hard....not that she or I are totally uncoordinated .....I just wasn't very good at the intricacies....I was more of a bull headed type...and so is she at this point. ..but I'm sure there's plenty of alternatives. ...

Anyways thanks for suggestions......right now the Bahamas is the popular vote.....not me....that just seems like a lot of tourist and 5 star destinations that they try to make feel like the U.S as much as possible. ...

Thanks again... searching both ideas on work PC

Beaches resorts are geared toward families. Been taking the kids to those in Jamaica or Turks since they've been able to walk. Can be a little pricier than other all-inclusive places, but its clean, well run in my opinion.

I agree with Jack. As six-year-olds, Six Flags was the only place my cousins, brothers and I ever wanted to go to!

However, my ultimate destinations now are the Galapagos Islands and Tahiti, for varying reasons.

Peace! :)

Above the Clouds....
For a 6 yr old I'll second Disney. Don't over do it though it can be overwhelming!

Save the tropical destinations until she's a little older.

Fly out to Denver and drive an hour and a half up to Estes Park, rocky mountains. Stay in hotel near the park, a lot of trails are family and kid friendly and see nature and wild life. Also an awesome drive up the mountain! :0008

Id suggest the Florida Keys! I have two young kids, my baby daughter is the same age as your daughter. We used to vaca down there with a family friend and ended up buying a place. We're in Islamorada. Great key, fun for all water activities, fishing, nice aquarium down in Marathon and a water theater in Islamorada where she can paint with dolphins and experience a lot of sea life. Shallow waters full of great snorkeling on both the bay and ocean sides. Cant' remember who but there's a MJ member that lives down there who can also chime in with info on the key. Has the feel of being out of the country but still in the great USA. Lots to do for adults also, great bar/restaurants to please everyone. The place we have is in a gated community with a pool that looks out on the ocean. Safe as can be for little ones. typically we fix breakfast and the girls are out the door to the pool and the boys out on the dock fishing. If you're interested ask Jack for my email and I'll shoot you a link to the place.

I like the mindset you have for your daughter. Kids grow up way too fast these days. Camping and outdoor vacas are a great experiences for kids and ones they'll remember as they get older. Great call man, enjoy the time with her, such a great age!

Take her surfing. I PROMISE it will be a blast. At 6 she'll be able to just hop on the board, stand up and ride on pretty much any wave. I will also promise she'll want to do it all day and it will wear her out. My son and daughter started at 5 and 6 and they will literally take a board out and surf all day long. Now on to the best part, it's something you can both do at the same time. My kids and I all take board out and have since they started and we literally spend days together just surfing. I can't tell you how great it is to see. It's something I cherish more than I can articulate here. My wife always just sits back and watches but she loves that part. She's says I look like her third child out there we're all having so much fun together. There is something about surfing that transcends ages. I'm 44 and have a blast every time I go and so do my kids. The best part is it's something I know I'll be doing with them for a long time and hopefully someday their kids will join us.
