Actually, the vast majority of the dead, over 80%, are Muslims from the North Sumatra coast

Not quite, but not split hairs...There's well over 50, 000 dead/missing in Sri Lanka, India, Maldives and surounding islands.

Didn't know that Indonesia were refusing help from Israel tho....Why just Israel tho? (Serious question) I know they get a whole lot of $$ a year from us, no doubt from US/UN aswell.

Cman Indonesia, the 5th most populated country and largest Muslim populated country on earth MrCristo, said they would take Isreals donations but had them turn their rescue and supplys efforts back saying their people weren't welcome.

Funny how their begging for and accepting donations from everyone including Christian charities yet ask look at the stance they take. How anyone can remotely see any similarity between Muslims and any other religions is beyond me---and it was just a short time ago----

A trail of blood
Recently over 500,000 Muslims gathered in the capitol to call for a "jihad" against Christian Indonesians.

Chanting "Allah Akbar," or "God is Great," and "Jihad!" and "Death to all Christians," the Muslims marched under the watchful eye of their own green-clad security men.

"Tolerance is nonsense. Slaughter the Christians," read a large banner that was unfurled at the rally, witnessed by WorldNetDaily. Chants of "Burn the churches!" and "Death to the Crusaders" filled the air.

---and on the #'s----80% won't miss it by much as you have 70% of toll from Indonesia alone.--
"Confirmed deaths from the disaster reached 137,321 after hardest-hit Indonesia increased its death toll to 94,081."

Nope DJV how about a fate worse than that. Since they can't get along with anyone else and every other religion is infidels and they commit terrorist acts everywhere they are--- I would suggest appropriate punishment to be making them live among themselves and be forced to live by their convictions. How about everyone else pulling out of every Muslim country and on same token refuse to let them enter any other country. Then they could fight among themselves a reap the rewards of their own "productive" societies without the aid of the West.--Allah Willing.

Remember DTB all country's have there %%'s of idiots. I don't think due to 30000 or 40000 out of 1.4 billion Muslim we can condemned them all. Hell we got 30000/40000 nuts just in NYC and Atlanta. And there not Muslim. We need to always becareful what we read or are told by the tube. I understand there are many that hate us. But there are many very goods ones that don't. This disaster ones again gives us a chance to show what America is truly all about.

But they say the exact same thing back at us regarding people like the terrorist in Chan's article.

We go back and forth and back and forth. I just hope hope we prevail and and are prepared for the generations of f'd up enemies we've inherited. ..And I hope we have better organization and competence in place for the next Pat Tillman.

then lets stop patronizing "them" with our dollars and troops

we create our destiny. their beliefs and bahavior didn't get so screwy all of a sudden-like. leaders with vision could have averted all of this. it's Bush's fault, it's everybody's fault. if you drive a gas powered car, your accountable. if you drive an escalade, your probably going to hell :)

seriously though, we complain about the most obvious things. did anyone truly expect anything else? simple study of pre-war iraq would have shown that about 20% of the population would hate us. simple study of islamists, would show that millions globally would be in jihad state of mind. simple mathematics would show that we would not be able to manage the borders.

and who cares who celebrates our tragedies? how can we act surprised at that at all? at the end of the day, we still fatten the very people who hate us because our love of money knows know moral or ethical boundaries.

EDIT: This is a up-to-date (ish) list of donations by country.

http://blogger.xs4all.nl/marcone/archive/2005/01/03/19687.aspx

Now....It is (at least I think!) a site aimed at showing the US' contribution is not up to scratch.

That's not what I intended to show. ...And it's why I didn't post the link in the first place. (It's just so much easier to read on the site).

The reason I did post the table was because I'm sure someone asked how much Middle Eastern countries were donating to their 'Muslim brothers'.

See for yourself.

I guess Turkey stands out a mile....But the more well off countries in the region seem to be doing their bit. (Qatar!)

New Years was all very placid down this way, C-Man!....But then again I was in my home-town of about 3000 people! ..I didn't really expect anything else! :D
Getting too old for it all now anyway...28 and I've lost my mojo ;)

We've been doubled up by Canada. How humiliating...

US needs to be reminded about "per capita" for everything. We always get on our high horse because we usually have the highest total of a given stat like this. The per capita tells another story.

That being said - I'm not about to bash us for not giving enough. I may have given less if I was in charge. Who knows...

I hate most of these 3rd world countries because their governments are such crap. They have money - but have such rigid caste systems and inhumane social structures that they treat their people like dirt. (we shouldn't be taking advantage of this on a corporate level either, by the way).

How many people would have been saved if these governments adopted the tsunami warning system that was offered to them? At least half??? 100,000 people +??? Thailand didn't want the system because they were afraid of false alarms scaring away tourists - you woulda thought they would have learned better from the movie Jaws!
