I had the same thing, and of course if I buy a 1/2 point I get my money back. That is just stupid on my part not to do that.

No it's not, 43 is not that important a number. You got unlucky, but I wouldn't make it a practice of paying 20% juice on all my plays just to gain a half point, especially on totals. The juice will eat you up if you do that. It won't come close to paying for the very few times it turns a loss into a push.
