:0008 I am sick of Nike ruining college athletics. Can you imagine what they will do with Penn State's uni's when JoePa retires?

In college football, tradition is king imo, and I'm only 36 years old. I don't mind the occasional wear a black jersey here, or change of pants there, but some of this crap is hideous. You don't know who is playing:shrug:

Is it really Nike ruining college athletics? Though they come up with the uni's, they aren't the ones making the decision of what the teams wear. Blame the schools. And when it comes to uniform decisions, most schools have a contingent of current players involved in the decision process of alternate jerseys or even changes/tweaks to the standard uniform.

I have to imagine it is the schools AD or some other bean counter that makes the decision as Richt does not like them/it either. He basically said he wanted the pictures released so all the bitching by the fans could get out of their system the next 2 weeks:facepalm:

The bean counters like Nike providing.

As a result of a new, six-year contract with Nike, Oklahoma State's athletic programs will receive $11.1 million worth of shoes and apparel.

The contract, a copy of which was obtained by the Tulsa World on Monday, indicates that Nike USA, Inc. will provide to OSU shoes and apparel equaling $1.7 million in value in 2011-12, $1.7 million in 2012-13, $1.8 million in 2013-14, $1.9 million in 2014-15, $2 million in 2015-16 and $2 million in 2016-17.

Oklahoma State has had a product-supply contract with Nike since 2007. For the 2010-11 sports calendar, OSU's Nike allotment was $1.2 million. If the university needs shoes or apparel beyond what the allotment provides, the athletic department pays the difference.

The new contract should "minimize our expenditures," said Jason Lewis, OSU's associate athletic director in charge of business and finance.

OSU's Nike relationship involves the university's football, basketball, baseball, softball, track and field, soccer, tennis and equestrian programs. The OSU wrestling program is affiliated with adidas, while the men's and women's golf programs have product deals with Ping and Titleist.

Last month, Nike and OSU unveiled the Cowboy football team's new Pro Combat uniforms. For both the jerseys and pants, there are four colors - orange, black, gray and white. There are white, black and gray helmets.

OSU can mix and match its uniforms into 48 different combinations.

That says it all, and if Nike is giving them money, they are going to wear what they have to wear.
