faves hitting at a 57% clip so far this season......even after an 8-6 performance by the dogs today.
it looks like it's getting true about the NFL........just pick the winner of the game and you wil beat the spread WAY more often than not. (I don't have specific numbers for that...but I know it is a really high %.)
It's like, if you like the dog, play them on the moneyline for a nice payout (except double digit dogs, which rarely win.)
I think the highest % of faves covering since 1980 was 54% one season. Only like 3 seasons in the past 25 have favorites covered more than underdogs. This might be another season for chalk players...where these seasons are obviously few and far between.
OR......................here come the dogs charging late!!!!
I think the latter, as with parity (besides Colts), the number of faves covering will be no more than 53-54% at season's end. (still amazing)
Conclusion: play all the dogs from here on out, as 1- history, 2- inflated lines, and 3- law of averages kick-in over the final 6 weeks.
