DAMN, I'M SO EXCITED I COULD HARDLY SLEEP LAST NIGHT!

played my first round with the new sticks yesterday. WOW, WHAT A DIFFERENCE between these things and the crap they made back in the 60's.

my golf history.....

played everday in my middle and highschool years. when i quit playing golf in '74 (a year after HS) i was a 6 handicap. i never really played much until 7 years ago when i played for a year to a year and a half......maybe 25-30 rounds. haven't played since then until 3 weeks ago when i played 2 rounds and shot 86 on day one and 85 on day 2. not bad after the long layoff although the course is wide open and on the short side (6200 yards).

got fitted for the ping i3's and bought taylor made woods off the shelf.

i shot 79 yesterday with the new clubs and now i'm back to being addicted to golf. jesus, what a difference clubs make. i was hitting my drives 280-300 and straight as an arrow. i dont think i missed one drive the whole round and even drove the green on a short par 4 (the card says 366 yards but the tees must have been up a good bit but none the less, i drove it but missed my 10-12 foot eagle putt. one par 5 i had a pw for my 2nd shot and knocked that over the green. it's a 9 hole course and i did the same exact thing both times. my irons i was hitting too good. had i not hit over most greens because i was getting so much more distance i would have scored much better, maybe 5 or more strokes. plus i 3 putted 4 times.

one streak of holes i had 6 straight pars followed by 2 birdies. WOW! (not bragging, just pumped!)

man o man, i can't wait to get back out there. never know, you might see me on the senior tour next year when i turn 50 :D

only kidding but damn, this is fun :D

Jack

Congrats on the new clubs and shooting under 80.

I am still using the clubs I got from my grandfather. Its a nice
set of clubs but I have never been able to break 100. Golf is frustrating.

It really is a game you have to get inside your own head
to play well.

FORE !

Jack,

Jack,

Did you look at the ping g2's in comparison to the i3's. Looking to update my ping eye2's that are now about 17 yrs old. Any info is greatly appreciated.

g2irons.jpg

The G2 Iron Series represents the most forgiving iron PING has ever designed. The G2 Iron Series (G2, G2EZ, G2L and G2HL) will improve your performance by providing options to match you game and personal preferences. The G2 features several new design advancements, including a center of gravity (CG) moved away from the face, and a wider sole for improved launch and more forgiveness. A new sand-blasting process improves ball-to-face contact for added control and consistent performance across the face.

Designed to complement the G2 Iron Series are the G2HL (high launch) long and mid-irons. With a wider sole and extreme undercut cavity design, the G2HL irons provide an alternative to traditional long irons and fairway woods, giving golfers the confidence to play long, soft-landing shots from the fairway or rough.

Adding G2HL irons to your set can be done in several ways, depending on the golfer's confidence with the long and medium irons. Some players may just replace the 2 or 3-iron, others may replace all the irons up to, and including, the 5-iro

get new clubs, scott. makes a world of difference.

for the experts -

i've always hit my irons HIGH. with these new irons, i hit it even HIGHER. i think too high, actually. i guess i should see the pro that fitted me and let him see and judge but i though i'd ask you guys first, just for the hell of it. plus, i can't see him until next week anyway.

i mean SO HIGH i almost lose sight of the ball. seriously

rrc, i went to get the g2's after all i read about them on the internet. at the fitting, i even hit as many with the g2's as i did with the i3's and the pro recommended the i3's for ME. i went with his expert opinon. the i3's felt better to me and i hope it wasn't just in my head because of the pro's suggestions.

so far, i'm happy as hell, as you can see :D

they're the ones, scott. i highly recommend them to anybody. they REALLY helped me.

i was hitting my drives 280-300 and straight as an arrow
after thinking about that i'm gonna change that statement to "hitting my drives about 250 yards and straight as an arrow".

i'd like to thnk they were 280-300 but that's too high. i can't imagine i'm hitting the ball that good.

one thing you lose after a long absence is your ability to judge distance :D

You made a good call taking the pro's advice. I can't wait to compare the two, seems like a no lose situation. What did you pay for the irons?

BTJ, i drove the green. i'll bet my legs and my son on it. i just barely missed my eagle putt. i also hit a PW 2nd shot over the green both times on a par 5. i'm telling you, i'm smashing that TM driver.

rrc, i paid $850 for 3-9 plus pw and sw.

Jack, have u ever been to a PGA event? Talk about hitting the ball high, it's unreal how they hit their irons. If you are getting good full distance, I would say elevation on the irons is a good thing, they'll stick on the green much easier. Sounds like a good thing!

Yea, nothing is a better feeling than hitting a perfect iron shot with the right trajectory, landing rignt on the green in regulation, it's too bad so many other things can piss you off it's a tough game, short game just kills me chipping especially and those half wedges, really gotta be good to hit those shots and never "flub" them, congrats on the clubs Jack

65, i was thinking, maybe, he has the wrong loft for me and i could maybe get more distance and less height with a change. the distance is fine as far as i'm concerned and compared to the other clubs i was using. i guess i'm looking for perfection already and too soon :D

i'm just amazed at how well i'm hitting the ball with the new clubs and so soon after such a long layoff. i didnt think hitting a golf ball was like riding a bike (never forget). the results, so far, are crazy.

pinch me!

T-Bonez,

That's one of the main reason I only use three clubs. It reduces my need for a lot of practice time at the range.

Jesus, I haven't seen Jack this excited since he got his toupee'.
