Update Vols-Vandy

First, let me please say that I don't classify this as "inside info" or want to come off as one of those guys; so take this for what you will.

I am in personal contact with a member of the media that called me yesterday and indicated that:
"I talked to several of the seniors today, and they have mailed it in. They clearly see that Dooley is not playing many of these guys, and that they believe that Dooley has given up on them to just play the young guys."

He also went on to say that OC Jim Cheney has wanted to abandon the running game, since they clearly cannot run the football, and go shotgun 4-5 wide and sling the ball all over the field. Dooley has stepped in and made Cheney run the football, which has proved to be foolish.

Cheney is the one coach that actually has proven results and would be foolish to mess with. The fact that he turned around Crompton two years ago, is evidence enough.

Now, I AM NOT PLAYING THIS GAME. I don't want to tell those that are backing Vandy that this is an easy winner, but I would tell those that think the Vols will rally as usual be very careful.

I wil say this, if the Vols lost to Vandy, I will HAMMER Kentucky next week. These seniors will stick it to Dooley.

hey skipper..no way i would touch this sorry ass game but we dont have but 3 seniors that plays much anyway and 2 of those guys have played good!! now if you tell me the underclassmen have mailed it in...that would cause me to load up on vandy!! which i think the nerds win anyway:facepalm:

I'm no Tenn. fan, but i CAN NOT see them not winning this game. Every hear of Tenn, pride. That is best thing they could have done. Their rushing game SUCKS. I see Vols putting 30 on board this week. I think game plays right into Tenn. hands. Think they throw over 35 times.

Has nothing to do with "Tennessee Pride" as you call it, Vandy is playing better football right now. Vandy is playing better football than alot of SEC teams right now. Vandy wins by 10

Tennessee Pride as we call it? Seriously? Tennessee people are as proud a people you find! Period, unfortunately we recruit outside the state and usually find the biggest babies and thugs out there. I do not believe for one second Dooley has quit on his seniors but I do believe just the opposite, they quit him. Dooley being from a damn good southern family and a very smart man will play the Vols that will wear the Orange proud , senior or freshman. So before these players say Dooley quit them they need to take a long hard look in the mirror and ask if they quit first cause I believe Dooley is doing what is best for Tennessee.

Volfan - I hope you are right on most of this. I still think we win the South Carolina game with Simms at QB because he even said Simms was the better QB at checking to runs, and that would have worked against SC.

I don't know what you think but to me, it is vital that he keeps Cheney, period. I think he has a great offensive mind and still cannot believe he turned Crompton around that year.

I am a UT grad, live in the Knoxville area, and huge fan of the VOLS. They installed the Pistol offense this week. Who knows if it will work. I would not be surprised if the Vols lose, especially if they do not start good. The young dudes get down on themselves and are like "Here we go again"
