Vegas baby!
enough flag waving...im gonna wretch

enough flag waving...im gonna wretch

all this rhetoric, one would think weve beamed back to the 18th century.

lets face it, this is imperialism at its finest. since when is it ok to dismiss the soveriegnty of another nation. its no wonder england and spain are behind us in this effort...their histories are based on distruction of other cultures.

here is the first by-product of the "war": Halliburton Inc. has been given the contract to deal with the oil wells once this fight is over. Vice President Cheney is celebrating tonight considering he works for them! if that doesnt nausiate you, you are clueless!

and the bill for this insanity: $80 billion this year...COUNTLESS billions will be spent while we mindlessly try to put another mindless dictator in power in Iraq, which is going to take an estimated 10 freaking years...all this from a president(choke) thats convinced tax breaks are crucial right now...yikes

i thought reagan sunk us into awful debt, wait until this meathead leaves office.

what a different/better position we'd be in if Ralph Nader was in charge.

scoop:

ignorant???

ok....if you say so....

i was merely asking questions....to provoke thought....not "stir up shit" as you so eloquently put it....and exactly where did i say

"that's the uS plan get everyone who is in charge of a country and then take them over..."

i believe you misread or misunderstood what i have written....

and....ummmmmmmmmm....i truly believe i know quite a bit about the world, thank you very much....and i'm NOT referring to JUST north america and the US specifically....i'm talking the ENTIRE world!!!

sheesh....most americans didn't even know where iraq was prior to this war....how do you like them apples!!!

AND....trust me....watching CNN for a second is NOT what i would refer to as educational!!!

I think you have said enough with that statment alone

I am not for the war and I don't want that to get loss in this tit for tat soapbox thread I just don't understand what good an opinion that bashes the war will do for the troops...

Our main concern should be the troops and that's it...if you want to debate over power, money, debt or what not there are better times for that like after the war....

a word in support for our troops we would be the best angle....yet ask anyone who has the chance to get a platform what they want to talk about and the troops are not mentioned.....hey dixie chicks, hey martin sheen, hey MJ forum, I appreciate your views on everything from war to oil rights but by the way kids are dying .......

if we for one minute focused on that we would have a united front...

is what I said..I just thought he was speaking about something he did not know in hopes of getting an adverse reaction, similiar to your post to me....

Secondly I have seen more than one post from him that led me to believe this and after he replied I said I was sorry and considered it a dead issue....

another piece on the booing

another piece on the booing

one note on the civilian deaths in this war. Thousands each year die in Iraq due to Saddam's deliberate mishandling of the oil for food program. The status quo, attempting to disarm Saddam thru inspections/containment/diplomacy, will actually cost more civilians their lives than the war will.

article here on the booing:

Song's over for Habs

By CHRIS STEVENSON -- Ottawa Sun

MONTREAL -- It was hard to pick what was the lowest point for the Canadiens and their fans last night.

There were a few from which to choose, for sure.

Maybe it was the robust booing of the American national anthem before the game started. That was certainly one of the low points in recent memory for what is usually a classy crowd at the Bell Centre.

The discontent with the United States and its war against Iraq served to fire up the Americans in the New York Islanders' lineup, the players said, helping fuel their 6-3 beating of the Habs and pretty much ending the Canadiens' hopes of making the playoffs.

"If it wasn't for America, Lord knows what language they'd be speaking," said Islanders forward Mark Parrish, a native of Bloomington, Minn. "I came to the rink pumped up and that really got me going. I want to thank them for getting me pumped up."

Goaltender Garth Snow, a native of Wrentham, Mass., who had 32 saves in the win which pushed the Islanders eight points ahead of the Habs, said Islanders assistant coach Jacques Laperriere apologized to the team on behalf of his fellow Quebecers.

"He gave us a heads up," said Snow. "When I heard (the booing), it fired me up, being an American."

"I don't think anybody deserves that," said backup goaltender Rick DiPietro of Winthrop, Mass. "That's not respectful. I think it's our job to go over there and take care of matters before they escalate. To boo our anthem was uncalled for."

another piece, this one from NY Post:

THE BOOING BACKFIRES

By EVAN GROSSMAN
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nice try.

"When they booed the national anthem, it pumped us up, even the Canadians," Minnesota native Mark Parrish said of the surge that went through the Islanders' bench. "I want to know how many of those Quebec people came down to Ground Zero and saw what happened."

Once the game began, the Islanders didn't give the 21,273 classless, American-hating patrons much to cheer about as they smashed the desperate Habs with unbridled passion and pep in a 6-3 victory that virtually turned Montreal's season to French toast......

Hab nots. It's been my experience that most Canadians are not like this. I know the ones I have met are pretty conservative and would feel these actions are appalling. This won't tarnish my image of this great country, nor does their non support of the action in Iraq.

I think booing at a county's national athem is disrespectful to that country & it's citizens.

I was once at a Ranger hockey game at msg & got into a shoving match with somebody who was booing the Canadian National athem. It is just wrong.

BTW, I have been married to a French Canadian for 20 years, who also doesn't understand why the US is always looked at in a negative light. I have met alot of Canadians since I met my wife & think that they are great people. However, i don't think that they are as agressive as Americans & they feel that everybody should mind their own business.Unfortunately you can't ignore some of these tyrants who prey on innocent people, & associate with terrorists.

kickserv,

Where did you see that 76% of Canadians support the US?

I would like to share this with the forum. I sent a email to the habs website telling them how I felt about their fan booing the
National Anthem here is their reply

On behalf of the entire Montreal Canadiens organization, I would like
to express my deep regret over the conduct displayed by certain fans
prior to Thursday night's game against the New York Islanders. It is our
firm belief that this kind of behavior has no place in the context of
professional sports.

The Montreal Canadiens organization has always held a high respect for
its neighbors and friends in the United States, and we look forward to
maintaining this strong and positive relationship in the years to come.

We apologize for the offense you took to this incident. We are taking
immediate measures at our end to ensure this situation does not repeat
by encouraging those who support us at the Bell Centre in the future to
conduct themselves in a manner worthy of both our game, and of our two
great nations.

Sincerely,

Pierre Boivin
President
Club de hockey Canadien

Talk about racist. Shit if you dont speak french in Quebec most of the assholes ignore you even if they can speak English. I support what most of the real Canadiens feel about Quebec.

You can find a few idiots at any sporting event. Durning a Vancouver hockey game they asked for a moment of silence for the 4 dead Cdn. Soldiers from Afganistan, of coarse there was some idiots yelling and screaming.

My french is very very poor but in Montreal I have usually been able to get by speaking english. Met some of the nicest people from Quebec.

thanks
