I think USC will improve a lot over the course of the season, but so will everyone else. One thing is for certain, the Trojan talent level is not where it was last year or in 2002. Particlularly at the DE and WR positions. I find it comical that there is this notion that SC's true frosh are so good that they can go out and dominate from the get. There are very few Reggie Bush's and Mike Williams' out there. I didn't see any freshman at that level last night, and Jarrett looked downright bad.
Something else to keep in mind when evaluating SC's performance. This is the same VT defense that gave up 52 POINTS to Cal in their bowl game last year. Oh wait, nevermind, its not the same defense. They lost their All-American corner and #8 pick DeAngelo Hall among others. Just something to consider before calling this a "very good" VaTech team.
Sure would have been interesting to see how things went should that garbage PI call not have been made. But in any case, give SC credit for getting a road win in August. Thats never easy to do, no matter the level of the competition.
