The D was excellent vs Cal. But that was one game and they were pretty shocking up till then in several games. There's a ton of talent on the D Line and its the healthiest its been all year. But, the LB's have looked lost all year, the DB's are talented, but still making freshmen mistakes and missing alot of open field tackles. 2 defensive changes that really helped vs Cal - They moved Gallippo outside and he played the best game I have seen from him. The DB's also played more man and it seemed to shut down the Cal passing attack. What has killed the D all year has been awful tackling. They have avoided tackling all Fall to protect a thin roster and it has shown. They miss tackles versus Oregon and they might get 70 hung on them. That being said, they started tackling in practice for the first time last week and continued this week. Will that make a difference? No idea. Its going to be a complete flip of a coin - One thing is for sure, they wont be playing the Tampa 2. They are keeping pretty quite about how they'll defend other than to say that they will obviously have to play differently with individual assignments for the QB, RB, and Dive on each play. I have a feeling they might stop Oregon early, but Oregon makes great adjustments and might torch SC late. I hope SC stuffs Oregon, but I have a feeling the only way they hang is to score every time they get the ball.

One thing on the over - its damn high, but L Kiffin at least in the press - has dismissed the idea of slowing the game down saying they need to score TD's whether they do it with 1 minute drives or 7. Might be a track meet.

Thunder - Monte Kiffin is not a CFB DC. Unconventional offenses give him trouble. Look at Ole Miss azz raping Tennessee last year. They are not going to be able to stop Oregon for 4qtrs. They are just too fast.

USC will be able to score I think, so over could be nice even though it is high.

I am going to see how the first half plays out, then make a 2nd half bet if it is worthwhile.

The other possible angle on this game is 1st half/2nd half. If you look at Oregon's 1st half score lines, they arent that impressive. But they absolutely murder people in the 2nd half. Kelly said these slow starts are to be expected. Since they are such a unique offense, he has no idea what type of defense the other teams going to throw out there and watching tape is kinda useless. He learns as he watches the first half. Once he sees what they are doing, they adjust and blow them away. So, that would favor USC hanging in the 1st and Oregon to cover the 2nd half number? Or, 1st half under, 2nd half over. Certainly something to think about at half time.

With 2 weeks to prepare for Ducks USC will do just fine, also at home and primetime game.
