first line i saw was 10 in mythical game ... then went to 10.5 ... now at usc -6.5 ...

Lotsa mouths that roared on this site backing their squads, rush to sportsbook.com and place your wagers, guys :) ... I know many of you like to wait b/c of injuires, but if this is a line you love, I wouldnt hesitate ...

personally, I believe in usc and am tempted at this line, but they have 3 more testers and not sure texas will be challenged on rd. again this year cept possibly College Station but thats a HUGE if ... line might drop even more

step right up!

I think this is Mack Brown's year. He never wins big games. I know b/c I'm a Carolina fan, but I love the guy and wish he never left. Its always funny to me when I hear Texas fans bitching. I'm here in Chapel Hill (ok, actually Raleigh) thinking, give him back. I'd love for my Tar Heels to be winning 9-10 games every year.
He's got things going his way this year. Young is experienced. He beat Ohio St. which took a lot of pressure off him. Oklahoma way down, and he blows them out. That took a whole lot more pressure off him. Now Texas knows they can win a big game.
I think this year Mack Brown gets his first conference title and follows it up with his first Nat'l title.

My UNC buddy says he would neve take him back. It is a running joke every time we talk.

I think Texas would beat USC in a regular season game at a neutral site. But we are talking essentially a USC home game with 6 weeks to prepare. I would like our chances, but at under a td i dont see how one on value doesnt play USC.

If USC closes out the 2h of the season as usual, they will beat Texas soundly in the Rose Bowl.

USC has struggled in the past against mobile QB's so that is a concern. However, Young AND Texas O will make too many mistakes. Penalties and Turnovers will kill Texas. Especially against a Pete Carroll D that has been studying them for 4+ weeks.

Like pt1gard said, USC is the more tested team. Texas will not have played a balanced/sophisticated offense like USC. They don't get that in Big 12 play and they didn't get it in OOC. Remember how lost OU was defending USC? OU was shocked USC uses the TE, WR's, RB, and FB etc. Texas D will be clueless.

USC has faced @Oregon, @Arizona St., @ND, @CAL, Fresno St., and UCLA! USC will be a tested machine! USC needs to get Leinart 100% healthy mentally and physically. I think that comes in the next 3 weeks against lesser competition.

I still think USC will be -3 over Texas.

I wonder how many fans Texas brings to Rose Bowl? In the Orange Bowl OU outnumbered USC almost 2-1 and we all know what happened. When OU played LSU, they were outnumbered by LSU fans. Last 2 years BCS NC game is 1-1 with the team backed up by home crowd! :)

It won't matter, USC is losing to either Cal or UCLA. UGA vs Texas.

Don't forget Fresno St. They are a damn good team who has been begging to play USC for years!

As usual Scott's post is ridiculous. Defense clueless?

Texas had 65,000 at last year's Rose Bowl. But I am sure nobody would travel to a championship game.

OU's defense was clueless against USC O. OU was prepared to stop Bush. They even leaked out their gameplan prior to the game. USC used Bush as decoy and spread the ball around with balanced offense. OU looked clueless trying to defend, BYRD, JARRET, SMITH, KIRKMAN, WHITE, and BUSH! All those players are back! You'll see the Texas D look clueless. What offense do they play this season that even resembles USC? TT has great passing attack but they are not balanced and not nearly as physical. Who else?

If Texas brings 65,000 to Rose Bowl, they will outnumber USC fans. Maybe Texas has advantage!

I can not wait to hear how you spin USC's loss to Texas in your own backyard. I am praying for this Rose Bowl matchup.

BTW, if you believe that USC "will beat Texas soundly", why do you predict a three point line? Is your vast knowledge about the two teams so superior to that of the bookmaker's that you think they will be way off on this one?

Your homerism is truly without parallel.

So. Cal
sorry but scott is right

sc will roll texas.....give pete carroll any amount of time and he will figure out a way to shut down your best weapon (how did adrian peterson do in the orange bowl......how did mich offense do in the rose bowl....how did that qb from iowa do in the orange bowl?.....the answer is they all failed miserably. Pete Carrol will put the game squarely on the throwing arm of Vince Young......you got confidence in him throwing the ball????

SC offense will be something that Texas hasnt seen all year. Speed everywhere, an nfl caliber offensive line, an offense that throws the ball all over the field, 6 weapons on every play, who to cover????

It will be a rout just like last year title game.

Provided that sc can win out vs cal (shouldnt be a problem) /fresneck (at home. sc should win) /ucla (should be a classic)

If Texas bring 65k, they will have more people in the stands. USC beat OU being outnumbered 2-1. Maybe USC has advantage in being able to practice on campus while Texas must practice on road, but as for fans in the stands, I don't think USC has an advantage. Prob. be 50/50. But if Texas has 65k, then USC will be outnumbered since Rose Bowl holds 90k. Then Texas has advantage! Isn't the most important advantage is "fans in the stands."

Texas can beat USC if they don't turn the ball over and commit penalties. Young needs to be able to read & react to Carroll's complex blitz schemes. I was not impressed with Vince Young against OSU. If he plays that way against USC, Texas will lose by 20+ pts. Now OSU does have a better D than USC.

All in all, I don't think Big 12 play helps Texas prepare for USC. In fact, it HURST Texas. I would love to see a V-Tech vs Texas matchup. That be great game. Maybe we will see it if USC loses to Fresno St., @CAL, or UCLA. Tough 3 game stretch to end the season.

BTW, if you believe that USC "will beat Texas soundly", why do you predict a three point line? Is your vast knowledge about the two teams so superior to that of the bookmaker's that you think they will be way off on this one?

Whether I believe USC beats Texas by 100 has nothing to do with setting the vegas line. I bet against the vegas line if I think they are wrong. Right now USC would not beat Texas soundly and Texas IMO would have 40% probability of beating USC straight up. That is my opinion. But in Jan. USC is ALWAYS a different team. USC is ALWAYS vulnerable in Sept. and Oct. So I will have to watch USC closely to see how they play in the 2h of the season. Carroll is quoted as saying USC had their best Monday practice of the year this week. So looks like the team is really focused even after dramatic win over ND. Carroll also said he felt USC played poorly against ND who happened to be the #9 team in the country @ND who is also rival! USC still won!

I think USC will be -3 because people will tout Texas. People will say the exact same thing they said against USC when they played Michigan, Iowa, and OU. I am starting to see the exact same quotes! Hey, maybe this is the year USC loses the big one. It has to happen eventually. I am just lucky to have capitalized on it 3 straight years.

Your homerism is truly without parallel.

:mj07:

That is exactly what posters said 3-4 years ago when I argued that Carroll was building a dynasty at USC. Who is laughing now? :mj07:

Posters said the same thing to me before USC played Iowa, Michigan, and OU in BCS bowl games! I seem to always get the last laugh with USC! Homer is a word posters on here don't like to be labeled as. I don't mind it. This homer is usually DEAD ON with his team!

I LOVE IT!

If Texas makes it their experience of having won the Rose Bowl last year should not be underestimated. Familiarity is a big factor in bowl games IMO.

Texas struggled with 2 Freshmen and a soph kick returner last year and the Michigan D is just a tad under USC's D. Granted V. Young has another year under his belt but lets just see how the year turns out.

That Vince Young is just awful. That #4 passing eficiency rating with as many tds in less attempts as Mr. Wonderful. And Young hasnt playe din the 4th Qtr in any game against Ohio State. But of course that isnt impressive, but running all over 3 loss Arizona State to come back from 3 ts behind and #94 pass defense Notre Dame is. And USC sure as hell hasnt seen Texas's speed.

Like I said, I think USC wins. But the comments from some of you above are either examples of being clueless or blinded by bias.

Texas will score at will against SC's soft defense. The question then would be can SC score at will against Texas?

My mistake, I was under the impression that Las Vegas Sports Consultants called for you opinion before even thinking about setting the line on a USC game.

I don't understand your thinking. You are not making sense. Why do people handicap games? Because they think vegas set the wrong spread. If I think vegas set the wrong spread, I will bet on it. Then I decide to see how much weight to put on my pick (units) depending on how strong "I" feel vegas line is off.

I don't want Vegas calling for my opinion. I am "trying" to BEAT the vegas line.

This Sat. night, take a look at the vegas odds and look at the final scores. You will see Vegas line is off by double digits on quite a few games. The goal is to find those game and try and capitalize on it.
