? Arkansas is now 3-11 all-time when facing the No. 1-ranked team in the country. The

USC game is the first for the Razorbacks against the nation?s top-ranked team since 1998

when UA lost at Tennessee, 28-24.

? USC leads the series 3-1 with the first three games being played from 1972-74.

? Arkansas entered the game with the top-ranked rushing offense in the nation, averaging

338.5 yards per game. UA ran for 483 against Missouri State, 194 against Vanderbilt and

197 against the Trojans.

? Felix Jones started at tailback, the first start of his career and the third starting tailback for

the Hogs in three games. De?Arrius Howard started the opener and Peyton Hillis started

against Vanderbilt.

? Jacob Skinner?s first punt of the game was downed at the USC six. He finished the game

with seven punts for a 41.0-yard average with two downed inside the 20. He now has five

punts downed inside the 20 for the year in 14 attempts. Last year, he had 16 of 52 punts

downed inside the 20.

? Felix Jones? 67-yard kickoff return in the first quarter is the longest for Arkansas since

Lawrence Richardson had a 98-yard return against Weber State in 2001.

? Guard Zac Tubbs and tight end Wes Murphy saw action for Arkansas for the first time

this season. Each player got in during the first quarter.

? The Trojans scored 28 points in the first quarter, the first time UA allowed 28 in a quarter

since the second quarter at Florida last year.

? USC led 42-10 at the half, the most points Arkansas has allowed in a half since the first

half at Tennessee on Nov. 11, 2000, when the Volunteers led 42-14 at the break in a 63-

20 setback.

? The 70 points USC scored are the most Arkansas has allowed since Oct. 19, 1918, when

Arkansas lost 103-0 to Oklahoma.

? Southern California?s 736 yards of total offense are the most Arkansas has ever allowed.

The previous best for an opponent was 613 by Houston in 1990.

? Arkansas? 15-play, 66-yard drive which resulted in Crhis Balseiro?s 31-yard field goal

took 6:22, almost three minutes longer than UA?s previous longest time of possession

(3:31 against Missouri State).

? Starting right guard Jonathan Luigs suffered a sprained ankle in the first half and was not

expected to return.

? UA quarterback Robert Johnson left the game in the second quarter with a sore back and

was not expected to return. Alex Mortensen took over in the second period. In the fourth

quarter, Mortensen threw his first career touchdown pass, a five-yarder to Marcus Monk.

? Marcus Monk had two touchdown receptions, the second two-TD game of his career. He

had a pair of touchdown catches last year against Louisiana-Monroe.

? Felix Jones accounted for 224 yards of all-purpose running against the Trojans, a seasonhigh

for the Razorbacks. Jones had 147 yards on four kickoff returns, 66 on 12 rushes and

LOS ANGELES, Calif. ?- Top-ranked Southern California clicked on all cylinders on offense as the Trojans cruised to a 70-17 victory over Arkansas at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum late Saturday.

Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Matt Leinart was sharp and tailback Reggie Bush was everywhere as USC scored 28 points in the first quarter, led 42-10 at the half and generated 736 yards of total offense for the game, a school record for a UA opponent.

In almost three full quarters of action, Leinart was 18-of-24 for 381 yards and four touchdowns. Bush had eight rushes for 125 yards and a score, three receptions for 70 yards and another score, and two kickoff returns for 16 yards.

Arkansas? defense had trouble stopping the Trojans, but the Razorback offense was able to move the ball, at least until quarterback Robert Johnson was forced out of the game with a sore back late in the second quarter.

With Johnson in the game, Arkansas (1-2) had 182 yards of offense and 12 first downs. UA finished with 326 yards and 21 first downs. Johnson finished eight-of-16 for 91 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

Alex Mortensen filled in and finished four-of-10 for 38 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Mortensen drove the Hogs deep into USC territory in the third quarter before a sack took UA out of scoring position. In the fourth period, he drove Arkansas 63 yards for a touchdown ? a five-yard scoring pass to Marcus Monk.

Freshman tailbacks Felix Jones and Darren McFadden were bright spots. Jones had 224 all-purpose yards. He had 147 yards on four kickoff returns, 66 on 12 carries and 11 on one reception. McFadden finished with 88 yards on 13 carries.

Cedric Washington was UA?s top receiver with five catches for 63 yards.

After building the big halftime lead, USC (2-0) took the opening kick in the second half and moved 86 yards in four plays, taking a 49-10 lead on LenDale White?s one-yard touchdown. A 21-yard pass from Leinart to fullback David Kirtman made it 56-10 with 6:26 left in the third quarter.

The Trojans led 42-10 at the half with Leinart completing 13-of-19 passes for 264 yards and three touchdowns, and running six times for 39 yards and another score. Bush had six carries for 109 yards and a TD. USC out-gained the Hogs 429-187.

After the teams combined for 35 points in the first quarter, Leinart threw an eight-yard scoring pass to Dwayne Jarrett and White scored from three yards out in the second period.

Chris Balseiro?s 31-yard field goal capped a 15-play, 66-yard drive which cut the deficit to 28-10 early in the second period.

Bush got the scoring started with a 76-yard sprint on USC?s first possession. The run came on USC?s third play from scrimmage after a Jacob Skinner punt pinned Southern California at its six. The drive covered 94 yards in 38 seconds.

Jones returned the ensuing kickoff 67 yards to the Trojan 29, the longest kickoff return for the Razorbacks since Lawrence Richardson?s 98-yard return against Weber State in 2001.

Johnson hit Washington for a 19-yard gain and two plays later found Monk in the right corner for a 12-yard touchdown, tying the game at 7-7. Monk finished with three catches for 33 yards and two scores, the second two-touchdown game of his career.

Desmond Reed returned the following kickoff to the Razorback 29, and on first down Leinart hit Bush for a touchdown down the left sideline, a one-play drive taking 13 seconds.

After another Skinner punt, Leinart moved the Trojans 68 yards in two plays, hitting Jarrett in stride for a 21-7 lead at the 9:06 mark with the drive lasting 26 seconds.

Leinart made it 28-7 in the first period with a 17-yard draw, capping a two-play, 70-yard drive, aided by a 15-yard personal foul on the Razorbacks, which lasted 15 seconds.

Don't expect another 70-17 yawner.

The addition of save-the-franchise quarterback recruit; Mitch Mustain might do wonders for the Arkansas passing game but it's the ground attack that'll make headlines. True sophomores Darren McFadden and Felix Jones form one of the nation's best 1-2 rushing punches, and small, quick Michael Smith is healthy and ready to be part of the mix. Add a fullback in Peyton Hillis who led the team in catches last year and returns punts, and an offensive line with, for all intents and purposes, five returning starters, and the Hogs should run wild.

Good - USC will roll this team once again!

don't know about rolling them.

ark. returns 10 (4 on line) starters back from last year & their defense return 9 (4 on line) on defense.

usc returns 4 on offense ( 2 on line) & 6 on defense (2 on line).

usc has the better athletes but ark. has the experience, which is big.

this could be a close game.

The game is at night too! Our fans like to get f**ked up all day tailgating!!!

Head coach will finally not be calling plays which is a huge bonus. Should be close.

Should be close is impossible to predict at this point.

It really depends on USC and how much they will have lost.

First game alot of ifs.

Only emotion I can find is USC whooping them so bad last year. That will not necessarily lead to Hogs winning this one.

I don't know why people are pointing at this game for action considering all the question marks.

You have USC losing the obvious 3...but replacements are obviously highly talented.

Booty is starting his first game. I dont care how long he has been in the system.

Arkansas obviously has revenge on their minds.

All in all, there are too many other games to put a major wager on this one, IMO.

I'll go out on a limb and predict this one ends up:

Condoms - 49
Hogs - 24

I'd guess you're about right. I don't see this being within three scores.
