Already facing the difficult task of playing Stanford and Cal, the USC Trojans began their two-game road trip to northern California on Thursday with news that they would be without leading scorer Byron Wesley, who was suspended for the two games.

The Trojans were outplayed by the Cardinal in all facets of the game, resulting in an 80-59 blowout loss. Next up are the Bears, who will be looking to avenge their Jan. 22 loss to the Trojans, which at the time was their first conference loss.

With Wesley serving the final game of his suspension, the Trojans will look to rely on Pe?Shon Howard, Omar Oraby and J.T. Terrell. The trio combined for only 20 points against the Cardinal and will need better results if the Trojans hope to split the Bay Area trip.

The Bears are just 5-5 in their last 10 games and are coming off a humbling 20-point home loss to UCLA. Justin Cobbs continues to lead the Bears, averaging 15.7 points per game and 6.1 assists per game. Cobbs scored 22 points and handed out six assists in the team?s first meeting.

When Cal is playing well, there are a number of scorers capable of contributing (Cobbs, Solomon, Kravish, and to a lesser extent Matthews, Bird, and Kreklow), a team playing solid man defense, and two elite big man holding up the back end. The issues that have plagued Cal have been inconsistency, listlessness (especially on the offensive end), and poor defensive communication. Cal has the talent to beat anyone in the conference - they just have to put forth consistent effort for a 40 minute stretch.
