Because they have good players and play solid D! Would not be suprised if the beat UNC. USC was very close to sweeping UCLA this yr.

I don't think USC matches up well with North Carolina. USC has a number of guys who play the 3 and I expect Wright and Hansborough to thoroughly dominate the paint. USC also travels across the country for this game... very tough on teams coming from West Coast to East Coast. Gibson is USC's only talented big man and he's 6-9 & just 210. Young is 6-6 and 200. Tyler should have a huge game.

Still, the spread is a tossup IMO @ 8.5. If USC tries to run with UNC, I don't like the Trojans chances. I also don't like USC's chances in a half-court game either. USC had their nice little run in the tourney, but it will absolutely shock me if they upset UNC in front of a UNC crowd.

So Cal
USC +8.5 is the play.

I see the game as very, very close....down to the last minute. NC rebounds better than all but a few teams in the country. SC plays smothering defense.

Floyd is flat out genius. He accepted Durants damage, but blanketed Augustine, and took him out of the game. NC won't be so easy.

I'm a homer, but sometimes that leads to over emphasizing the bad, as in SC's 15 point losses to Stanford and Wash, not to mention the 20 pt beatdown by Oregon in the Pac 10 championship. I have friends taking SC and the ml, I'm going to watch it, and if its tempting I'll split my bet.

SC is 4th best out of 360 in ats records. The line is down to 8. I played it at 8.5. Not sure where it'll be tip off, higher or lower.
