May find this interesting?

Most folks who are familiar with hoss wacin know what these things are, chime in if you don't and I'll explain. I've played around with them too and found that they're pretty good to use provided you only add horses that you've seen run and was EXTREMELY impressed. Overall, I think I musta put about 15 or so horses on my List during the whole year. The way I figured it - play it when you get the email that it is running in the race after the date that you entered it in your Stable Alert thingy. Sometimes I'd stick with one for awhile, like maybe it's next 2 or 3 races.

I got this Stable Alert notification a couple days after the one I received telling me Tribute would be running. Come to think about it, think it was New Year's Day when I got the notification Alert that told me he would be running on the 3rd. Note that I entered this horse,Tribute, in AUG, after seeing it run in a maiden race. I don't know if or when the horse ran or won after Sept. but I usually don't bother taking them off the Alert list.

Tribute (#10, 20/1) finished 1st Penn National on Thursday, January 3rd, 2013 in Race 2.
Your Notes: Aug 7th 7fur, Mdn. clmg. 15k, Suarez 10-1. Made up plenty of ground after poor start.

Hmmm... maybe it ain't a bad idea sticking with these things after all, ya think? Sho woulda made a nice start to the New Year.

The stable alert(horses on your radar) is a useful tool whichiare free from DRF and Equibase. If you see something during a race which maybe a positive in the next race that horse is going to be entered, you can be "alerted" by these programs, when the next race will be runned, so that you don't miss out. You can add annotations and also follow workouts at your discretion. The American Turf Club monthly publication critiques horse that you may want to add to the stable alerts.

Thanks for the help with this, Hamster.

Only thing I could add would be the option you have to put COMMENTS along with the horse's name that you want to be notified about. Things like:

- take in sprint race only

- no higher than $25 claimers in NEXT race, only

- with same jockey on board (mention jock's name)

- in short field of horses only

- vs. ANY field

Stuff like that. I would have had to continue playing that there TRIBUTE horse for quite some time (don't know how many times it ran since I put that one on my List) cause I do believe that one took off some time during the interim between Sept. and Dec. OBVIOUSLY, it woulda paid off IF I woulda stuck with that one. Man, would it have EVER!

That is the EXCEPTION, though. Most either "make it happen" quickly after you add them to the List... or not at all... or win as a huge favorite when they finally do win forya.

Hoping Philly management gets some balls and runs this week cause mine are itching for some PHilly Phunny BUCKS. :)
