Wife and I just spent 5 days in Vail. Our first trip in 2 yrs without the baby.. I missed her like crazy but man what a week.

I had never been to Vail before. Its an absolutely stunning place. It has the feel of an old town in the mountains of Europe. Gorgeous views. Great food and tons of outdoor activities. Not to mention the perfect weather. Why anyone would eat a meal indoors during the summer time there is beyond me.

We are already making plans to go back.

We stayed at The Sonnonalp. Check out the view from our balcony.

Going to ski towns in the summer is a great experience as you get all of the amenities (except skiing) without the crowds.

You can ride the lift to the top of the mountain, you have all of the outdoor activities and we were lucky enough be there during the annual BOB festival (the name of the bridge over the creek there is Bob) and, among other things, enjoyed a free concert by WAR.

Glad you had a good trip

Note...none of this applies to Park City, Utah during the summer.

Vail is amazing - some of the freshest air in the world there. Lived down the mountain a bit from there for 10 years at 8500 feet. That was basically my daily view. Still call it "home". Great place to vacation!

Aspen is really nice too - check that out next time. But of the mountain towns in Colorado for vacationing, I think nothing beats Telluride. A little off the beaten path, but well worth the journey.
