Nole, I'm so sorry I didn't see this until now. Hopefully, by this point, you're feeling quite a bit better or have gone to a doctor. Yes to the broth and Gatorade. Stay away from any attempts at dairy. When you can keep the liquids down (ginger tea, herb tea, popsicle, Jello, broth, ginger ale, etc.) then start back very delicately with banana, rice, applesauce and/or dry toast. Go at least another day on BRAT.

If you're still losing everything, upper and/or lower, you need to get to a doctor now!

Alive and kicking VaNurse. I appreciate your info and advice. I had chicken soup tonight and Gatorade. I feel one more night and I'll be back near 100%. Never had any "upper" but plenty of "lower". I took 4 Immodium AD during the day. I feel that locking me up so I'm getting off those suckers! That's all I need!

Going to bed and hopefully sleeping all night.

Thanks again.

If the problem's mostly lower you might try taking some Metamucil, Benefiber or another fiber supplement. It seems ridiculous to suggest a "laxative" for diarrhea but it works. GI that I see recommends that all over 40's should have one serving of it per day..... if you're having frequent bm's, take two to three in a day.

I guess it kinda works like putting sawdust down on an oil spot and acts to absorb the excess water from the intestines. It doesn't necessarily slow the frequency but it does help reduce the "cold sweat" sensation that everything is running out of your backside, including your guts!

Hope you're in the pink soon!
